No real surprise there.

It’s honestly a smart move by him. His stock fell off big time compared to preseason.

I have a new daydream — bears trade down to 3, then down to 4, then down to 5, then draft Carter. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
We should expect more players to hold off on making the jump unless they're sure of their draft position or done with eligibility. NIL money makes it much more tenable to spend an extra year in college.
Chicago Bears #23

The more and more I think about it, the bears are probably not ending up at #2 or #3. The only possible wins I see for the broncos are cardinals and rams. Only possible wins I see for the rams are broncos and Seahawks. If the broncos are able to beat AZ this week, that would be great, but then the bears would need the rams to definitely beat the broncos when they play each other, all while the bears lose out. The broncos/rams playing each other really helps because one or either of them are assured a win/tie, but it’s still pretty tough to envision either one of those teams winning a game the rest of the year.

Obviously we’d like to be 3rd or higher, but 7th is not a bad landing spot either. It likely limits our trade back scenarios, but still plenty of good prospects in that range.
My concern is the Vikings having nothing to play for whenever we face them, so that could be a meaningless win.
