    Scherzer probably has the most successful big free agent contract of all time and he looked as good as ever last season. I'd take the gamble.

    Why would you not? Is the money coming out of your pocket?

    Don't worry, they can still get Kyle Seager.

    Would you rather have Scherzer for 3 years and $130 million or Verlander for 2 years and $50 million?

    Tommy Smokes
    @TomScibelli
    2005 Yankees payroll: $205 million
    2005 Yankees revenue: $277 million

    Current Yankees payroll: $210 million
    2019 (last full season) revenue: $683 million
    Current franchise worth: $7 billion

    They're making more money and not spending it. No fan should give them another dollar

    It's not crazy but it also carries plenty of risk. That amount of money through a guy's age 40 season is most definitely a concern, even if Scherzer seems like a guy that doesn't age like a normal human being.
