Again, I get it. I also think you're being a bit melodramatic. Yankees will continue to be at or near the top of the pack when it comes to team payroll.

So all of the experts on here said Yankees will spend because of the best free agent SS class in years…

They would spend because the luxury tax line would be rising.

They said pitching is out there for just money….

    They said Hal would spend.

    Well?

    Wrong!

    Hal doesn’t take risks!

George would have had both Mad Max and Seager signed today. No way he lets the Mets beat his *** in any way.

Say what you want to say about money….

The money goes out the door when the players take the field.

That is all Yankee fans care about is what kind of team will we have on Opening Day.

Hal must be sleeping with Cashman because the boat left!

    Hal is a joke!

George would have had Mad Max, Ray and Seager at Yankee Stadium on Friday with a huge presser with all 3 in their Yankee jerseys.

The biggest mistakes IMO the Yanks have made so far is not getting either Barnhart or Stallings.

I would have probably matched the Verlander deal though
The funny thing is this. Who had the better SS going into this off season? Us or Texas?

IMO Texas did...and yet they just spent a half billion dollars and signed TWO MORE.

    Near the top?

    They are a money machine!

They should be light years ahead of teams.

Gausman to Jays? For how much? But that splitter that he developed is one nasty pitch.

    Jays should have kept Ray.

Jays would have dominated if they signed both Ray and Gausman.

Yankees are a freaking money machine. You don’t need Hal money, he has it there already. He blows away Cohen with just owning the Yankees.

    No excuses!

Cohen just kicked sand on Hal.

The Mets will never have the highest payroll in MLB….Rich owners don’t necessarily use their own money….

George didn’t pull money out of his pockets. He used the profits to get whatever he needed or wanted….

Hal just has budget that he will never go past unless he feels the pressure. He got Cole because he felt the pressure….No pressure this off-season…

    Why?

I already said they have most areas already covered and paid for….Plus they have specs to bring up if needed.

That is fine and dandy if you are a mid level team with regards to payroll and overall profits.

Yankees are in a different landscape and they have no excuses to sleep while other teams are spending like drunken sailors.

Nah they'll resign Judge and he'll end up predictably spending a lot of time on the IL as he ages.

Stallings is the only disappointment for me today and I'm still optimistic that we might not be out of the woods yet, because the Marlins have been trying to trade for Gary Sanchez. in my wild optimistic dreams, they flip Stallings and pitching in a trade to the Yankees for Sanchez and prospects.

ALL payroll limits are self imposed.

Cash and Hal playing coy is annoying but watching fans support fielding an inferior team so that Hal can save money is worse.

    Never the plan.

Hal needed a convenient excuse to string the base along in order to contract the margins.

A new, and ready-made, executive soundbite has probably already been thoroughly prepped to sound just credible enough to delude the uninformed, casual, fair-weather ‘fan,’ and it probably involves using the unsurety of the impending lockout as a justification to sit back and ‘analyze another year’s worth of data…..’
