Stroman would be perfect. He’s reliable and keeps the ball in the infield… all we need from a starting pitcher.

He commented on Twitter during the wildcard game how much he respects Yadi.

Matz was a solid add. Not a huge upgrade, but certainly depth with upside. 4 years for an injury plagued pitcher is too many, but it isn't a killer.

This won't be their only addition. I'm not sure if they're going to add more starting, or help elsewhere. DeWitt sounded like he was ready to spend though.

Looks like this Dec 1st deadline for a new CBA or a transaction freeze will take place is increasing the pace of fa signings. Could see a frenzy of moves by this Wednesday.

I read on mlbtr that scherzer might make his decision soon. Don't think we will be the winners on him.

I think a lot of nl teams and players are waiting for final word on the DH.

Transaction freeze starts at midnight tonight. See if the Cardinals snag anybody before the lockout.

I don't think we will see anyone signed until after the lockout... simply because the agreement wouldn't be able to be finalized until after a physical. Not enough time now.

True, they would have had everything finalized before the deadline. Cardinals usually don't announce deals until everything is finalized. So I guess there could be something but my guess it would be minor signing.

Some intriguing non-tenders like Colin Moran and Richard Rodriguez. Cardinals type signings.

    Gross.

Wonder how long it’ll be before things are sorted out. I’m gonna be sad if it carries into what spring training would have been. Seems like the two sides are pretty far apart so I’m preparing for the worst

Manfred's letter didn't do any favors.

    That’s sad.

I’ve been on Cards Talk over at the post forum, pretty active there
