Interesting that Berrios was the Jets leading receiver last week.
We're playing a Belichick defense and our worst receiver got the targets.
Does anyone else think that Belichick had something to do with that?
Belichick closed down the Jets real weapons - Davis and Moore and the Jets closed down the third real weapon themselves, Mims, and the offense was then funneled thru the guy who can least hurt you.
I'm reading all of these articles about how wonderful Berrios has become. Belichick must be getting a good belly laugh out of those.
Why is a WRs success a negative? Yes, the Pats tried to take Davis out of the game and did. Moore had some good looks. Sure, Berrios is the benefactor but why the constant knocking of the guy? He's a decent pass catcher. He had a good game.
If Crowder had played, it would have been Moore in that position.
Mims wouldn't be in that position because he can't run the routes that Crowder, Moore and Berrios can run. If he could, he'd have been on the field.
Ignorance is bliss
You might want to ask Belichick that since he's the one who double covered the other guys while forcing the Jets to funnel things thru Berrios. Belichick cut Berrios a couple years ago so you get the feeling he has a pretty good idea of Braxton's limitations.
Davis, a former fifth overall pick, Moore and Mims, a couple of second rounders, have playmaking capabilities that average or below players like Berrios don't. The special guys, the playmakers, are what get you wins in the NFL. Belichick decided that he wouldn't let a playmaker beat him, but, instead, let a below average player try - with predictable results.
I already explained how bad it is that LeFleur and Saleh appear to be tossing a potential special talent aside for an, at best, pedestrian player. Belichick's defensive game plan this week put a punctuation point on that. It's really starting to head in the worst case scenario, with Belichick poincing on Mims when these two cut him. I wouldn't be surprised if part of Belichick's strategy was to make Berrios look better so that the Jets staff would be more prone to cut Mims.
Belichick is playing chess, these two are playing checkers.
Why do you presume they are throwing away Mims for Berrios? That makes zero sense no matter how you look at it. Maybe if Mims put in the work, learned the routes and practiced his arse off like the rest of this crew appears to be doing, he would be on the field?
I don't think Berrios is a game breaker by any means but he's a solid possession receiver with some wiggle and good hands. He's reliable or at least he seems to be to ZW.
Why wouldn't you want Berrios to succeed? If he was on the depth chart behind Mims, would you want him to be a successful 5th WR? If he lined up in a 5 WR set and caught those passes with Mims, Crowder, Moore, and Davis on the field, would you be annoyed?
Why not the anger towards Smith? He played a bunch of snaps. If Mims offered to run gunner, I would be willing to bet he'd be on the roster.
I will agree with you on many, many things but I just don't see why the extremely harsh criticism to the point of seeming, disdain for Berrios
He is a solid possession WR So what if Bill cut him. He had guys just like him. He didn't need him. Berrios is not the first player to be cut by a the Pats or any team. and go elsewhere and play.
You don't like Berrios. Ok
Ignorance is bliss
It's not that I'm angry with Berrios or don't like him.
He's a limited talent.
You win in this league with elite talents at wide receiver.
You contend for Super Bowls with talents at Mims' level, not Berrios's.
The fact that Berrios is getting the most targets on this team is an inidication of why this team is winless. Berrios is standing in the way of a real talent that can get us to the next level getting reps. I don't blame Berrios for that. I blame the coaches.
If there's anger here, it's directed at the Jets coaches. They're taking the easy way out and playing a coachable mediocrity instead of doing the hard job and getting an immature high level talent to produce.
The only way this is palatable is if they're giving Mims tough love and it's part of their long range plan to be patient with him and work him into the starting lineup, ahead of Berrios. It just don't look like that's what's going on to me right now.

Like you said it's all good. We're just having fun here on the Jets forum.
While we all can agree he played an awful game on Sunday, I'm gonna chalk up some of it to The Hoodie.
I believe in our HC and Zach. I think together they'll persevere. I am however a bit worried about our OC. On the first and goal he ran three times off tackle. We have a QB who thrives on the move. Why not on second or third try a RPO ? Not that it would've meant we win the game but it's up to the coaches to extenuate the talent on the roster. Yes our run game was thriving but I think we missed an opportunity to tap into a ZW strength.

I didn’t get that either but I think they wanted to be super cautious with him. They basically said, we won’t let him F this up.
If he had thrown a pick then, my lord. The stadium would have charged the field and tore him to shreds
I think it was a “better safe than sorry” moment
I haven’t loved the play calling. I think they should be rolling him out, bootlegging him, running screens…
But it was week 2 of a rookie qb amd OC.
I give them till week 10 to play it safe.
I expect changes amd adjustments but I have no issue with dumbing down the offense for a bit
Let me rephrase, it’s annoying amd it sucks but I understand
Ya a lot of Jones biggest plays against us came via the screen.. I was at the game and was screaming the entire time to throw some screen passes. Carter looks like he can be dominant on the screen pass, he is smaller, quick and twitchy which should make him a great weapon in the open field..
Here is the only thing I didn't understand offensively with Sunday's game: You have Ty Johnson, Michael Carter, and Tevin Coleman combined averaging 4.9 YPC, your rushing attack is over 150 yards running the ball; Why are you not running it down their throats?
