The series will be canceled because KC will be the latest natural disaster along with Lake Tahoe and Grand Isle as KC is wiped out by F5 tornado in the coming hours.

J/K. last trip there had nothing to do with heat. Both teams had to play in it. Think 2 if a sweep if bats show up. Which is a good sign as Grandl is picking back up hot in his return with 3 hits Wednesday.

Keuchel has been sleep walking for a while. He needs to show up for this one and show some emotion on the mound.

Hopefully Keuchel comes in confident knowing that he's not losing his rotation spot with the injuries. He was probably a start away from losing his spot if Lynn and Gio never went down.

But he is well aware that his playoff rotation chances are looking slim.

We somehow have too many times where we suck against KC and unknown pitchers (though Cy Chen was known)
    I think we take one.

The Royals have been the Thorn in a few teams side over the 2nd half. Notably us and the Astros.

I think I hate them more than Minnesota

Well we own the Twins this year!

    Twins 13-4
    Tigers 9-4
    Indians 7-7
    Royals 8-8

    Vs. Playoff Possibles

    Yanks 1-5
    Red Sox 2-2
    Stros 2-5
    A's 3-1
    Rays 3-3
    Jays 4-3
    M's 3-3

You can't really look at regular season matchups as a gauge of playoff success vs a team. Factor in you'd be throwing your best rotation at these teams. Also factor in health when we played these teams.

Looking at how our pitchers fared vs. .500 or better teams...

    Rodon
    12 Starts
    5-3 W-L
    2.06 ERA
    0.88 WHIP
    12.5 K/9

    Gio
    11 Starts
    3-4 W-L
    3.16 ERA
    1.14 WHIP
    10.2 K/9

    Lynn
    12 Starts
    3-3 W-L
    3.46 ERA
    1.09 WHIP
    9.8 K/9

    Cease
    9 Starts
    2-4 W-L
    5.76 ERA
    1.36 WHIP
    11.3 K/

Cease and Lynn are significantly worse vs. good teams. Gio is slightly better in terms of ERA, and slightly worse in WHIP. Rodon is better at just about everything in big games.

Food for thought when thinking about that postseason rotation.

Tonight was ugly. With Kuechel, instead of Buehrle, we are getting Danks.
