Agree that 6th pick looks like best we can hope for. Just noticed Cubs are hottest NL Central team and tied with Dodgers for NLbest over last 10 games at 7-3. Not sure what that might mean for next year but might just give our "rookies" a sense they can compete with the NL. I kno w that I did not expect them to be playing this well. But then the recent competition hasn't been the greatest.

Yep, Ortega is a real Cub. That's at least twice he's gotten a base hit and then gotten picked off to kill a rally.

Since Aug.1st this new offense has scored 4+ runs in 17 of 31 games(including today), and their record in those games is 7-10..

The previous 31 games they scored 4+ 15 times with a record of 9-6

What does this tell you, Absolutely Nothing [emoji1787][emoji28]

I was just curious to see how productive this group was since the deadline and then decided to look and see how they did in the same amount of games before...

Pretty funny how close they are

Cubs Kids win again! They just can't seem to get the hang of tanking-- or maybe they just want to win too badly to tank well. No, they aren't the Dodgers, nor have they been playing the Dodgers the last two weeks. But they seem to have a fire in their bellies the older Cubs had been lacking. 2022 may be more interesting than I and some of you all had anticipated.

Were you really expecting a bunch of guys getting their first legitimate shot to play in the majors to throw it away so the organization can get a better draft spot?

Schwindel has definitely earned the 1B job. Rizzo demanding a huge contract was a blessing, otherwise we'd be stuck with his declining production

No, but I thought they weren't good enough to win another 10 games through the rest of the season. But they have surprised me, by both how well some of them (such as Ortega and Schwendle ) have hit and how often they have come off the deck to win late-- something the "old" Cubs seemed unable to do, although they often tried. But they always seemed to fall one hit short in their comeback attempts-- which several other contribitors here have noted in the past.

Their wins have come against teams equally as bad, outside of 1 win against the White Sox and 2 against the Reds. I wouldn't exactly say its fair to compare their success against a team that was making the playoffs and winning 90+ a season.

Ball players and Managers dont play for draft position, especially those that dont have multi year contracts..

Lmfao Duffy and Heyward go back to back. The most unlikely of duos you can possibly conjure.
