Age, injuries etc. All that is probably catching up to him.

Jed looks insanely smart right now though. Shed 40 million for 4 potential impact prospects that are coming out of the gate strong in their first year in the Cubs system.

    Buy low sell high.

Could be the post-sticky stuff syndrome. He's an elite spin guy.

Would be funny if they knocked out the Dodgers in the WC game.

I have never seen a manager bring a pitcher in ti a tie game in the 9th inning that had an ERA of almost 10!- Never!

Gee, who could ever have guessed the Phils might score a run with Megill pitching the 9th?

It's not like his decisions are being made on the basis of a tight playoff race here.

That's true; makes perfect sense in a tankathon.

Vlad Jr. leads the AL with a .315 AVG and Trea Turner leads the NL with a .318 AVG. There's only 6 guys hitting over .300 in the NL. I can't remember such low averages.

edit: I checked, these would be the lowest totals for the 2 league batting champs in MLB history.

They need to move the mound back.

In the late 60's (68 maybe) Carl Yestremski(sp?) won the AL triple crown and I believe he batted just .300 that year. I have no idea what the NL leader hit, but that was the year Bob Gibson led the NL with an ERA around 1.1. The next year MLB lowered the height of the mound by about 5 inches, from I believe 15" down to 10" .

I just checked, ya Yaz hit .301 and Pete Rose hit .335 in the NL.

This argument happens every couple years or so..

Offense going well, change the ball or something

Pitching going well, change the ball, mound, or something

    Just let them play

Plus, i think the averages are lower mainly because of the shifts, i would bet most hitters would be at least 20 points higher if there were no shifts

7 run inning punctuated by a 3 run bomb by Duffy. He's having quite a power surge this month.

Hendricks starting to remind me a lot of end of 2016 into 2017 Arrieta, only worse. Man is struggling to make it 5 innings without a bloated pitch count because he can't finish hitters off.
