The simple idea of proportionality that you highlight in this post is just one of the reasons why I say education is so important and why we need to invest more in public education. Without it, the population is easily susceptible to brainwashing and believing misinformation. Additionally, they're easily susceptible to being told raw numbers without understand their context.
I see you you were describing yourself in that post.

In 2018, the college enrollment rate was higher for 18- to 24-year-olds who were Asian (59 percent) than for 18- to 24-yearolds who were White (42 percent), Black (37 percent), and Hispanic (36 percent).
Are you sure whites get accepted to schools at a disproportionately higher rate compared to non-whites?

Idiots like you will continue to be the reason so many people think that racism is so much more rampant than it really is.

Actually considering the enrollment to undergrad is 8.5 million white, 3.5 million Hispanic, 2.5 million black, and 1.1 million Asian, Asians much higher enrollment rate is for a much smaller population and when you add in the enrollment rates of all of them together, they are lower than the enrollment % of white applicants.

Either way, even your stats say demonstrably that yes, whites get accepted to schools at higher rates than all other races except Asians. And we won't even touch that the reason the numbers are even nearing equal for Hispanics and African Americans is due in part to affirmative action, something the GOP is against and wants to end, and something I strongly suspect you are also against.

Thank you. I really don't know any other way to get the message across. Maybe crayons will work next time.

Texas' restrictive abortion law takes effect after SCOTUS deadline to stop it passes.

Schools have minimum entrance standards. They can accept or reject anyone who meets those standards. They should not accept applicants who do not meet those standards. They should not have racial quotas. Sometimes to build future enrollment students from certain areas or in certain majors will be more readily accepted then others. Sometimes schools want raise transfer enrollment or international enrollment etc. There are many reasons one student might be accepted and another rejected. These conversations are often based on the faulty premise that a student with higher grades and/or SAT scores should always be accepted over a student with a lower a GPA or scorers. That’s just not how it works.

Agree. Crayons would most definitely help you get your message across. Always use the tool that you're most comfortable with.

There is a huge Supreme Court case filed by a bunch of Asian students who were denied entrance to Ivy League Schools by preferences given to other minority students with lower academic grade and test scores and the case is going to be tried pretty soon. This after other cases involving white students being denied entry also for the same reason were denied being heard by the Court. Is that fair?

Ewing literally just said people are under the mistaken delusion that grades and test scores are the only barometer of whether someone gains admittance. You appear to be one of those people.

    1. It might very well be. We know minorities are not provided the level of education their white counterparts are nationally, so if we need to make sure minorities are provided opportunities by force of will to meet quotas, then so be it.

    2. As ewing just mentioned, and it's true, grades/scores aren't the deciding factor, they are simply A factor.

If you want the ultimate, you've got to be willing to pay the ultimate price. It's not tragic to die doing what you love.

They are THE major factor. Without good grades, you do not get consideration.

Well they claim they were denied admission, so we know that what they claim is 100% true and they know the deliberations for admissions.

Let's break down this debate into simpler terms:

One side is asking for equal access to quality education for groups that have been marginalized and continue to be marginalized.

The other is saying that access to that education should be based on merit.

Given that more white people have access to quality education compared to their black and brown counterparts (look at matriculation to private colleges by race), then there are only 2 conclusions to be made:
1.) The GQP is suggesting that white people are more qualified and thus have earned more spots in schools than black and brown people.
2.) If they are not suggesting #1, then they are admitting that there are a lot more black/brown students who are qualified to be successful in those schools but just aren't admitted. So, any suggestions for how to fix that?

Now let's see which lie or insult the GQP will use to respond to this.

More to the point: is it just?
