the failures of jd davis mcneil and dom have ensured cano will be on the team next year

at this point none of those three should have a locked in starting job heading into 22

Davis has played well when he was not on the IL. And Dom played well the first part of the season. Mc Neil has too good a history not to Boone back.

I just don’t see Cano wasting a roster spot. I question how much playing ability he will have left at his age (39 next month) after most of two years off.

Nobody else will want him at his salary so they will end up cutting him loose.

I think the Mets will give Baty a shot to make the team sometime during 2022, so the Mets will likely not sign a third baseman to a long term contract.
In fact if they can get Villar back for 2022 that might be a good move. He and Vientos can work third base. I think the Mets need to move Davis and Dom.

Then the V and V pair will hold the fort until Baty is ready - hopefully for 2023.

We'd be lucky to be able to bring back Stroman, Pillar, and Villar.

But I think Conforto is gone unless we offer him the QO, then I think he accepts. Also think we trade Dom and JD.

There's no reason to get rid of Cano at this point, especially if there's gonna be an NL DH. He likely would have been one of our better hitters this year if he played. I think he could easily hit 260 and 20 homers next year as a primary DH. I think we'd all sign up for that.

Sandy Alderson shouldn’t be here next year.

I really believe MLB forced Sandy onto Cohen
Sandy will be here under MLB stipulation for 1-2 more years

I believe Sandy was there to assure the other owners that Steve Cohen would not go hay wire in spending for players.

No he wasn’t, Sandy wrote a letter to Steve outlining what he should do.

Or if Steve Cohen ever buys a grocery store, maybe he uses Cano to work the produce aisles?

Looks like Alderson will be here in 2022. Honestly didn't figure they were going to fire him.
