    A Floor is Coming?

MLB is proposing that teams spend at least $100 million on their MLB rosters. I am hopeful that the players agree to this and it makes baseball a bit more interesting in several markets.

So basically the top 5 teams with the highest pay rolls are gonna benefit?

    Yankees
    Red Sox
    Dodgers
    Cubs
    Giants

Those 5 teams will spend for the Pirates and Royals and Marlins to pay for some FA.

How do they benefit by causing the lower teams to spend more?

The Cubs under the Ricketts have averaged about 10th in payroll. But yes, the owners of teams like the Yankees and Cubs will benefit because they'll have a new excuse to spend 30 mil less each year.

No way the players agree to this, and they shouldn't.

i agree but shouldnt they? i feel like this benefits all players that arents superstars tbh... you have the superstars who are gonna make bank nomatter what and then you have the young guys in the braves player who made bank and now ohtani that will make bank and are superstars but need to just deal with being in the league early.... if you have a floor you then force teams to overpay for talent that shouldnt deserve the money or deserve the money barely no? it would be similar to basketball where a brogdon gets 100 million

Some owners are cheapskates and don't want to dish out the doe, even when they can afford to pay star players the same amount as the big market teams do.

I think this is absolutely the players need to agree to. You need to get players paid as well as make teams more competitive. This is more than just overpaying your players, it's making more teams active in free agency.

    Active in spending, period.

You have teams trading off players during arbitration years and pre-arb years just so they donít have to pay them.

Could see this having less of these types of trades happening and more players staying with their original teams.

I like the idea of a floor.
