This is a much lower haul than what we got from Stroman who had similar control and even he was the better player.

If they make another move though like Story then I can understand since you are overpaying on prospects to line up your top tier talent. If this is the only move this deadline then I wouldn't be happy.

I donít think stroman was better than berrios. But still itís a fair comp to look at the trades.

Gotta figure Berrios is gonna cost at least $15 on his third time through arb.

How so? We have one of the top line ups and pitching staffs in the American League. Shore up the BP and this team is a legit WS contender.

Yeah. Nick Madrigal for Kimbrel? Wow. Glad we didn't beat it.

Remember a week ago when we thought it was a buyers market? Wowza.

Cost was high but aren't people here saying all prospects don't always hit anyway? We got a stud under control and didn't lose anyone off the roster. Our depth in minors can handle this loss for the big clubs gain. Let's see what else we do but happy to get a stud in Berrios and the players have to be happy too.

I agree we paid a big price, but that's the market. We're only 4.5 back in the WC. They have the best offence of all WC contenders, (even with the Yankees moves). Our rotation is now as good as WC contenders. We need to add to the bullpen and we have a good shot at the WC. We get there and line up Berrios, Ryu and Ray in the play-offs, I'll take my chances. The great part of the trade is the control with Berrios. I think we'll see Ray back in a jays uniform in 2022. Berrios, Ryu, Ray, Strips, and Manoah look pretty good to me. Pearson, Hatch for depth. I think we'll be better to start 2022 than we were this year.

The down side is losing Martin IMO, but Groshans is putting up better numbers in AA than Martin. At some point you have to take a risk, remember the David Cone trade, we sent a HOFer away, that one still paid off.

Agreed. But... we have no idea how teams value these players. I think Washington got killed in that trade, but if they see Ruiz as the next coming of Bench or Fisk, then they may feel like they got the better of the trade. Hard to say.

Looks like there's no other deal.

Disappointed given I thought this team needed a few more pieces, but if players all start to peak at the right time then it would be a legit shot.
