Republicans may try to kill Nord Stream 2 pipeline-Bllomberg

    https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/ar...-nord-stream-2

So apparently Senate Republicans are threatening to block the nomination of 2 Biden treasury appointees if they move forward with approving the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

Joe Biden famously has come out on the campaign trail and in office called Putin a killer and a murder and said he would stand up against Putin.
The Nord Stream 2 pipeline was blocked by the 3 previous admins and is protested by both Ukraine and Poland.

This seems like more evidence that the Republicans are the party of Putin.

Why won't the help Biden Stand up to Putin by allowing Putin to build a pipeline worth Billions of dollars to Russia (and honestly Putin because it's a cleptocracy)?

What other way is there to stand up to Putin, then capitulating on an infrastructure project that Putin has been trying to build for more than a decade.

So steam roll over them...that's the point of having 50 votes in the senate.

Tactics aside I agree with them. We shouldn’t be approving the Nord Stream 2 project. Particularly if our approval is the only thing standing in the way of it happening.

But how can we stand up to Putin like Biden promised if we don't give him this billion-dollar pipeline?

While I understand Ukraine and Poland don't like this.
Personally, I don't care about the pipeline myself, Germany can buy gas from whoever they want. This really doesn't involve us.
That said, if Trump had approved this deal, we know what the reaction would be.

They can be run over if they are committed to it. Mitch McConnell was able to do it to get a ridiculous amount of judges confirmed.

And if approving a gas pipeline is worth potentially trillions but slapping a few small sanctions on Russia is how their going to hold Russia accountable...well, with enimes like Biden who needs friends.

Biden has already sanctioned China, multiple times:

Well, it's Biden. They would know he is wrong if he suggests constantly breathing is healthy.

Their newest thing appears to be making fun of him for having something on his chin, which has obviously never happened to any other human being before now.

stuck in attack mode, when it comes to Biden. I hope he doesn't forget to wear a flag lapel pin or dare to wear a brown suit, they would impeach his arse on a Sunday, and shoot him on Tuesday.

Are there some republicans attacking Biden for silly things, sure, but let's not get started on which side has made a big deal about silly ideocratic moments.

MSM spent weeks talking about Trump walking down a slick ramp, then defended Biden falling multiple times walking up stares.

As far as the biden clip is concerned, the weird part is he licked his hand after wiping his chin...why.

None of that was for their role in the hacking.

A flurry of activity preceded Biden’s new sanctions. We covered much of the backstory in previous Lawfare posts, but to recap briefly: On June 24, 2020, the Defense Department released a list of “Communist Chinese military companies” (CCMCs) under Section 1237 of the 1999 NDAA. The release came in response to congressional pressure due to 20 years of noncompliance from the executive branch with Section 1237. That provision requires the department to identify those companies that are “owned, controlled by, or affiliated with” the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
Basically congress and the pentagon forced him to deal with China's non compliance.

And his justice dept is droping charges against 5 spy's who stole information from the US.

Biden really doesn't seem like he wants to deal with China in the way we need to. Some of that is understandable, given the domestic problems we have hear going on right now. But, I think he's mostly just going through the motions because it's what's expected and demanded by BOTH sides of the isle right now.

We saw this during his campaign where he reassured us that "The Chinese are good folks, folks" and that the idea that "China is going to eat our lunch, c'mon man"

Personally I am glad that Blinken takes china seriously.
