Its possible derozan is part of the sign and trade deal though too. Idk where everyone is sitting and what the interest level in say THT is for the Spurs, but Lakers could sign and trade THT for Derozan, in which case derozan just had to accept a salary close enough to THT to make a deal work.

It's a bit of an awkward situation, but the Lakers can lay it out for THT and say either agree to a sign and trade with the Spurs, or we match any offer you get and potentially trade you midseason to whoever we want.

I believe a move liem that hard caps the Lakers, so it's a bit of an awkward move. But it is a path to get derozan and spend more than the MLE.

Yeah the last part is why the Lakers won't do it. They're at $120 million with 3 players, they would be hard capped at ~$142 million to fill the rest of the roster out. DeRozan gonna have to take a vet min, the tax payer MLE or just sign elsewhere.

No clue, but thatís why they donít pay me the big bucks...but Iím thinking there is going to be a Schroeder package announced on Aug 2 that will include Buddy and then Derozen just comes over for less money...

5.9 million is the most we can offer to a FA and avoid the hard cap.
I don't think DDR takes it but who knows...then we'll only have the possibility of a S&T DS but then it has to be in his interest too...

Lakers are better suited going after a specialist type SG like Ellington, Galloway even Bazemore rather than hard capping themselves. They only need a guy who's capable of hiring open shots. That player would never have to create for themselves.

I think with most of the PGís already deciding on where they are going to go (or stay) the next two biggest targets for the Mavs will be DeRozen and possibly Patty Mills.

I can picture Derozan following Lowry to miami if Lowry has already decided to come here. But since you have more money to offer I think, again who knows...

True, right now we need at least two pretty good shooters or we'll have a problem.

Looks like Lowry and DeRozan may be pivoting to the Heat. Although the mathematics to get DD to the Heat seem tricky for a S/T

    Robinson
    Bam

    Thatís not much better spacing.

Money is definitely going to play a factor I think. But I hear DDR is close with Lowry and Butler. Iíd feel less upset if DDR took less to go to the Heat than I would if he went to the Lakers.

Iím interested in finding out what happens with Dragic too. If Toronto does buy him out DDR and Dragic would be a good haul for the Mavs.
