Arenado’s numbers remarkably similar to his career numbers away from Coors.

The coors effect is wild. Imo no one from the Rockies should make the hof

Plenty of hitters have had equal or better success after leaving the Rockies. Andres Galarraga, Matt Holliday, DJ LeMahieu, Larry Walker, Chris Ianetta, Dexter Fowler just to name a few.

Arenado is just in a little slump too. A few weeks ago his wRC+ was basically the same as his usual one as a Rockie and he was on pace for a 5-6 win season.

2400 plate appearances is a pretty good sample size.

So are the 2400 PAs at home.

Rockies players historically have better than expected home stats and worse than expected road stats. Almost every time a good player leaves Colorado people talk about how his road stats weren’t that good and in most cases the player ends up having similar value in his new city as he did as a Rockie. The counting numbers are different but the park adjusted stats like wRC+ rarely tank and for every case where they tank there are cases where the hitter seems to have gotten much better in the new city.

Tulowitzki, Dante Bichette, Vinny Castilla are the other side of the coin. Right now a 30 year old Nolan Arenado is putting up the exact same numbers he has for his entire career outside of Coors. I hope and believe he’ll end up in the group I listed. That being said, he’ll probably take Mills deep tonight, but big picture.

And a month ago he had a higher wRC+ than he did overall as a Rockie. It’s just a bad month. It doesn’t mean that road stats are meaningful for players leaving Colorado. It’s been studied like crazy. Players in Colorado typically have inflated home stats and deflated road stats. When they leave most guys stay about the same overall but with less extreme splits and like players leaving every team sometimes they perform better in the new place and sometimes worse. The whole “former Rockie” thing is very overblown.

I would never say a Rockies hitter can't go to the HOF, but it's the best hitting ballpark in the MLB and has been since it opened, that's a statistical fact.

There's the argument that hitting on the road is harder when you play for the Rockies, so it might even things out a bit. Arenado is probably better than his numbers show this year.
