Jets want Crowder to take a 50% pay cut

    https://jetswire.usatoday.com/2021/0...rcent-pay-cut/

The Jets want to keep slot receiver Jamison Crowder, but not at his current rate.

New York is asking Crowder to take at least a 50 percent pay cut, according to ESPN’s Cimini. Crowder is currently on the books for a $10 million, non-guaranteed salary for the final year of his contract.

This is why Crowder decided to skip the Jets’ voluntary OTAs, though Robert Saleh expects him at mandatory minicamp from June 15-17. Saleh also said Crowder “definitely has a role” on his team. The Jets would save $10 million by cutting Crowder outright but it seems like they’d rather keep him around if the money is right.

Only reason to do it this way is if you know he could get more from a better team as a FA. Otherwise cut him first and offer the lesser deal second.

Who needs a slot receiver? Maybe Packers could get Rodgers another weapon.

he'd be a good add for the lions, huge upgrade and sets up whatever QB they get in the draft to have weapons better than literal nothing

Why did they ever sign this guy to that deal anyway? He is an average WR.

He is the 28th best paid WR and has been the best WR for the Jets for two straight years.

The #1 WR on every NFL team makes $8M+.

He's one of the top slot WRs in the league and makes a little more than Cole Beasley at $7.25M vs $9.5M.

Being the Jets best WR the last two years is akin to being the tallest midget.

Also they've agreed to a reworked deal an hour after this report:

The #Jets and WR Jamison Crowder have finalized a renegotiated contract with plans to keep him on the team for the 2021 season, source said. Crowder will be a free agent next offseason at age 28 to get another payday before age 30.
Seems as though posting about the disagreement is fine, but passing along it's been figured out is just asking too much.
