Iíd rather have Barnes face Pham with the lead than Tatis with it tied.

    Padres @ Mets

I see why Rojas left Familia in when his alternative was Barnes lmao he tried to squeeze one more out from someone he trusts.

    Where is May?

    Clearly not Barnes.

The three guys I mention are out of todayís game.

The other option was May who has struggled big time of late and likely was the guy that was going to get the save in case they had a lead in the 9th.

So tell me who gets those 4 outs before May?

Honestly I'm surprised they didn't bring in May... He is the best reliever you have today when the others are out

May was probably the option for the save.

Donít think you would get a good result there either.

Barnes is trash, my big problem here with Rojas is staying with Familia for one more batter and bringing in Barnes. I would of rather seen Smith, but I am not going to say that the result would have been better.

Imho that was the save situation. Bases loaded vs Pham or tied game vs Tatis Jr

[QUOTE=Zmaster52;33983499]I stand by my point of Barnes and Familia being trash.

Familia is garbage. At this level he gets into to much trouble and I have little confidence in him at post season time. I never seen a guy who comes in and walks batters and gives up hits so often.
Young players today can make millions if they can just consistently come in and get outs without every outing seeming like a nail biter. Relievers coming in and giving up walks and hits so often is excruciating.

You can never have enough quality BP arms. Something this team can think about come the deadline.

    Exactly

He was forced to rely on Familia for 2 innings and he could not do that and then had to get one of the bums that should not be in that situation to try and get out of it.

Listen I realize the options were garbage.

But youíre 7 outs away from a win. If you get Pham out you have Tatis leading off the 8th where he canít give Padres the lead.

What Iím saying is that at bat with Pham was clearly THE big at bat of the game and thereís no way a major league manager shouldnít realize that in real time.

So if youíre trying to win the game how do you leave Familia, who was clearly gassed and can rarely find the strike zone with men on base, in there for that game defining moment with the bases juiced and Tatis on deck?

Familia had zero shot against Pham the way he lost Profar and everyone but Rojas knew it.

Maybe Barnes comes in and does worse but I would have let him have a shot against Pham instead of letting Pham have a guaranteed win and then asking him to face Tatis.

These are games you have to lock down and Rojas managed poorly. Peterson will most likely need help early. DeGrom will not be pushed in husvstart to protest t him.
METS need another good long man besides lugo.

Mets had plenty of chances to add on but Alonso and Smith have been more liability than help today.

    Padres @ Mets

And yes I would have had May up for that at bat and if he got the out to pitch the 8th. That was THE leverage moment of the game.

The fact that he wasnít up for that moment speaks volumes more about Rojas in that spot.

The thing is that May has struggled as well. Thats probably a spot for Castro if he's not dealing with the stiff neck. Barnes can't be pitching to Tatis in that predicament though.
