Cubs are practically begging us to make a trade now. Especially after Zack Scott comments yesterday in WFAN

Mets have essentially 7 top 100 guys - Alvarez, Baty, Mauricio, Ginn, Vientos, Allan, and PCA. 8 if Rocker signs.
It’s not like the Mets have a bad farm anymore, I’m guessing the team is somewhere in the 10-15 range? And there’s lots of talent soon coming.
If Gallo didn’t net a single top 100 guy then the aforementioned people I mentioned should be off limits for any single player on the market. If we were talking a larger blockbuster trade to include say, Baez/Bryant/Kimbrel, then that’s a little different.
Not too many interesting names that are free agents in 2023, I’m not sure if there’s anybody on the trade block that warrants a top prospect.

Perhaps Mets management needs to consider stacking the lineup with guys who have had recent success against lefty pitching. It might mean benching both Smith and Conforto for today's game (at least not include them in the starting lineup). Drury, Nimmo and Pillar in the OF, Davis at 3b, Villar at ss, McNeil at 2b, Alonso at 1b and either Nido or McCann behind the dish. That leaves just 2 lefties in the starting lineup. Also, there is nothing wrong with bringing up Almora to play CF - looks like he is hitting well lately in Syracuse.
Yep and none of those guys you mentioned should be included in any deal for any of these rental players. I don't care if we're getting Bryant, Baez, and Davies. If an extra year of Gallo costs the Yankees 4 prospects outside their top 10-15, then no rentals are worth our top 100 overall (or borderline top 100)

"You don't know how to drink. Your whole generation, you drink for the wrong reasons. My generation, we drink because it's good, because it feels better than unbuttoning your collar, because we deserve it. We drink because it's what men do."
Drury gets the start at 2B as they continue to monitor McNeil's leg "fatigue" (which will be revealed to be more eventually).
I don't understand why Pillar is sitting and they're staying with the struggling Conforto against a lefty.
I say "they're" because, as much as the haters like to contend, the lineup is not solely Rojas's call, especially when taking injuries, compressed schedule, rosters and even the trade deadline into account.
