Teams pursuing Scherzer believe Nats want to act within next 48 hours to create time to work through his no-trade. Chances of Scherzer making his start Thursday seem remote. Scratched from last start due to right triceps discomfit. Teams might ask: How do we know he is healthy?

It’s funny because Alonso, McCann and Nimmo are all in the top 50 against LHP…but it’s not enough.

Where in the world is Jose Martinez? He is a great hitter vs. lefties and was brought in to play LF on those days when a lefty starts. Did he retire?

Interest is predictably immense in Max Scherzer, who is suddenly the most impactful guy on the market and very likely to be traded. There are said to be about 14 teams that have called, including some barely in the race.

I have to agree with my buddy Paulie. The player I would center on right now , if we are going for it now , is Craig Kimbrel. I might also look at Jon Gray from the Rockies.

Kimbrel makes sense on two fronts. The first is obvious , he strengthens our bullpen a lot but secondly you do not want the Phillies or Braves or Nats or even the Dodgers to get him.

What I would give up for him is another issue since he is a rental player.

Great question BD. I wonder if Zach Scott is even considering him.
