Simmons had a triple single in the loss. When do people start viewing that contract as an albatross?

Not likely especially among GMs right now. He just held one of the NBAs hottest players to his worst night of the season when he was the primary defender.

Lol. Trey had 21 and 11 on 16 shots. He also missed a bunch of open 3s (1-7) He definitely didn’t hold him to his worst night of the year. I bet most GM want nothing to do with his deal already. He will be making 40 million in 2025.

That’s overall game stats not individual matchup stats.

    Because Trey Young doesn’t exist.

Trae Young scored 4 points on 33% shooting when Simmons as the primary defender.

    https://twitter.com/gobirdsgosixers/...780099074?s=21

    In 2 games:
    4points, 2/6 shooting, 0/2 from 3, 4 ast.

    Ben is shutting down Trae.

He is a very good defender. Atlanta offense is based on forcing switches and rotations. He is not going to be as successful when your best defensive option is able to stay on him and he will often choose to move the ball in those spots. Young was awesome in game 1 and pretty effective in game 2. Simmons did not shut him down either game or hold him to his worse game of the season.

To his credit he is good and I think Young has more difficulties when a big is squared in front of him. He wasn’t very successful when the Knicks just straight switched Randle on to him. His D could be a big factor his series. Does make him worth the huge contract? I doubt it

Whatever value that adds.... It still doesn't add $31M worth of value.

Simmons has become this polarizing figure where people either think he's an overpaid and overrated mediocre player, or you think he's this DPOY monster.

There's no inbetween where he's a great defensive player who is a critical piece in his team's winning while simultaneously having massive holes in his game due to poor FT shooting and lack of aggression who's way overpaid.

    From Bodner:

RE: Simmons: The Sixers shot 55.4% as a team, and averaged 126.8 pts/100 possessions, with Simmons on the floor last night, as Simmons locked down one of the most locked-in offensive players in the playoffs

If what Young did the last two games equals being locked down the Sixers better not have a poor effort

Morley should forward that tweet to someone In Portland. It might convince them to give up Lillard

Thing is Thybulle is becoming a lock down perimeter defender at a fraction of the cost of Simmons. Ben is going to be making $34, $36, & $38 mill over the next 3 seasons. It’s no secret that his lack of shooting and some times assertiveness hinders the 6ers. I can’t help but think if Embiid had a different co star that the 6ers would have had more success by now. And Embiid becomes a free agent after next season, at what point do the 6ers run the risk of him saying I could win somewhere else, with someone else?

As I showed above no one has more points contributed than Simmons other than Embiid. It’s like I said...if/when Ben gets dealt it’s going to be one of the most polarizing deals likely ever.

He scored 4 points last night and is shooting 32% from the line so far these playoffs this shouldn’t be polarizing.
If this is how he continues he’s a bad contract

He's veeeerrrryyy good...but i think he will ultimately be a reason they don't win it.

He needs to improve his shooting to say the least
