ATF Nominee can't define an assault weapon.
Assault weapons donít have one definition. I believe the one that Iíve most frequently heard is a weapon that can fire multiple shots per trigger impact. But most states have statutes that say an assault weapon is whatever the chief of police or local office determines is one.

California uses these criteria in addition to any of those already codified.

    DC uses the following.

    https://code.dccouncil.us/dc/council...7-2501.01.html

The NRA has an interesting definition for an assault weapon which is probably more broad than any state legal code definition.

Why could Mr. Chipman not give a proper definition of an assault weapon when asked in his senate confirmation hearing? It appears he is not qualified to be in the position he was appointed to.
Multiple shots per trigger impact would qualify as an automatic weapon. These are banned from private ownership without certain qualifications having been met.

The "multiple rounds per trigger pull" definition is now rare.

Well my point was more that there isnít a real definition. So trying to throw it as a trump card or gotcha in an argument to prevent common sense gun restrictions.

Ironic because you don't know what a mass shooting is and why its a bad idea to allow assault weapons when mass shootings are increasing year over year.

Funny because most mass shootings are used by handguns which again proves you donít know crap about this topic. Maybe go back to the baseball section and let the adults talk about politics

Yeah so add to the 40% of mass shootings that are done by semi automatic rifles like the AR-15 by enacting legislation that allows for the legalized use of said weapons. More irony with you talking about not knowing crap because I don't think you've made an educated post on any political related topic. Hilarious stuff though.

You should tell more people about how the election was rigged btw.

I never said the election was rigged. I even said Biden was elected president and Trump supporters should get over it.

    Keep the lies coming though.

Itís hilarious how the left always wants to get rid of the AR-15 etc when only like 10% of shootings if that are used by that style of weapons but want nothing to do with handguns which are used by 60%+ of shootings. Anything to stop that white guy from owning it

Yes you did and I know there are other posters who can attest to that but nice try.

Nothing. He's just mad that he doesn't get to shoot some combat style semi automatic weapon. Although, probably the state he comes from its legal.

Its just more ignorance. 16% of mass shootings come from assault weapons and the 5 of the deadliest shootings in the last decade were done with said weapons or those in which had high capacity magazines. Las Vegas, Orlando, Newtown, Sutherland Springs and El Paso.

The judge called those shootings like those "a very small problem".
