Initial thought is this move is brilliant. Ainge had health problems, a major shakeup was needed, Stevens a fine talent evaluator/builder but lacks *something as an NBA coach.

The easy move for Stevens would've been to pack up and go to UNC or Indiana and re-visit his college glory days. Instead I think he accepted the challenge of NBA, but had self-awareness to realize that something wasn't working as NBA coach..

I'm quite happy with this move.

    Plan

Bring in Penny Hardaway as Coach

Bring in KG, Pierce & (Rondo if available) to do player development and toughing up the squad.

Start smart at PG and see what you can get for Kemba.

Get Tacko personal training with a Great Center in the off season and give him more playing time.

Bring in some vet bench reserves.

Guards: Smart & ? (Buddy Hield)
    Fowards: Brown & Tatum
Center: ? or Just keep Rob Will

Reserves: Pritchard, Langford or Nesmith, Tacko and Vets.

I'm looking forward to offseason trades because we might finally understand what the heck has been up with the locker room/team make-up for a few seasons (based on Stevens perspective, i.e., Brown or Smart).

Don't understand the panic, I think Stevens will excel in this role. Happy medium for people that wanted the talent evaluator but not the coach.

I like Billups too. Frankly I think the Red Sox have it right: nerds in front office, strong ex-players on the bench.
