Will he be ready to go when the season starts? If so, I think it's a really good signing.

Sounds like mid-August his doctors think he'll be ready.

(EDIT: Fisher tore his Achilles. Instead of changing the whole comment I'll just leave it as it was.)

According to this study from 2016 https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10....63546516651426 of the players who didn't retire after an ACL injury, they usually returned to baseline of play after 1 season.

Ronald Darby would be a good recent example because he re-signed with the Eagles on a 1-year contract in 2019 after tearing his ACL and was quite bad, but then moved to Washington in 2020 on another 1-year contract and played well, comparable to his 2017-2018 seasons.

It might be less of an issue for OL though.

This is perfect. Even if he's not good to go at start of season, Colts OL can probably survive the first 3-4 games. When healthy this OL is loaded and an upgrade over last season. Castonzo had a great career but he took a huge step back last season.

That's a lot of money to gamble on a guy who might be shot. Then again it's not like the Colts are hurting for money.

Whatever it takes for Carson to play 75% of the snaps.

Colts are definitely doing everything they can to set him up for success. His BFF at coach, Top 5 OL, Top 10 Defense. Elite RB in Jonathan Taylor. Hilton/Pittman/Campbell/Pascal/Hines/Doyle/Alix-Cox/Granson isn't bad for pass catchers. No excuses.
