Corrupt government trying to raise taxes on people of mostly lower class incomes in the midst of a pandemic no less. How did they expect that to pan out?

Some of the things people are protesting.

Middle class will pay 19% tax on water, gas and electric bill.

Middle and lower class will pay 19% on internet bill.

If you die, your facility will have to pay taxes for your funeral.

I have family around these areas. A ton of Venezuelians have also resettled into Colombia and have taken their jobs as well. The entire region around this area is just a ****-show and Colombia is actually one of the better nations. I wanted to visit since I've got a ton of mileage to spend but looks like COVID will make things uneasy in these areas.

It's not a FAR-Right govt, they're center right at most. Though corruption in this part of the world is endemic in all political parties.

    the pandemic
    the mess in Venezuela
    refugees crashing the US borders
boats sinking crossing into the US and across the Med and Caribbean
    over population

ÖÖI always wonder where the UN is. Do they ever help anybody??? Solve any problems??? Trump was right on the UN being useless.

And don't forget pestilence. Nothing worse than pestilence. UN is not help there either.

Ask the western countries, Russia, China, they run the organization as well as finance it. Outside those countries, we are talking second worlders and whole a lot of third worlders, who aren't financially or politically stable.

There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.

Part of the reason the UN is so useless is that the countries in power don't want them to do anything useful.

Colombia is one of the more stable countries in South America. Its just a matter of it being the wrong time to tax so many everyday items when jobs are not readily available. There is no assistance from their government like there is in other countries either.
