Listened to an interesting podcast today that had a short interview with Callis in it. He expects that Arias or Rod-A as some are calling him to be the #4 or 5 spec in our system once he signs. I haven't heard this anywhere else, but these guys were saying if Arias comes close to reaching his ceiling that he would be the Yanks SS of the future. That was including Volpe, Peraza, Vargas and Sweeney.

They believe all his future grades that are out now are about a half grade to low, especially defensively. I hate the comp but they said defensively he reminds them of a young Correa. Pluss, plus arm, is always in position to make the plays he supposed to and has the athleticism to make the ones most other SS don't.

Offensively they seem to love everything about the kid. They believe his feel, approach and power all play like someone who is much, much older.

They said they difference they see between Dom and Arias is that Dom is all raw tools, ceiling and projections while Arias tools are more developed at a younger age.

From what i can tell Arais has to the chance to be one of those rare kids who could be MLB ready before he turns 21

Most SH, especially at a young age, seem to have different swing but you can see he does very similar things on both sides.

That footage really doesn't due him justice defensively. He does make all those plays look easy and it is very smooth and fluid Even though i don't like the Correa comp defensively, i can see why it he has been mentioned as a comp. Its pretty impressive how strong the arm is at his age and you can see he has no problem changing his arm angle to make whatever throws he needs to.

I wonder if they are going to play it safe with him and start him in the DSL or are a little aggressive and let him start in the FCL

Volpe will start in AA, Sweeney high A? Vargas low A? Arais FCL? It will be incredibly interesting to see if he has a Franco type start and hit the ground running or he has some bumps like Dom, hopefully its the former

I don't think he's a bust. I think he just needs the right motivation to pick himself up & play harder.

From my Yankees guy some of these guys have not been announced yet:

Urena - HUGE BAT. Hit and power. Immediate impact.

Pierre - Premium position player, loud tools, similar case to Florial.

Cruz - not a 2022 by couple days, as young as you can be. Athletic, huge frame and ceiling.

Gonzalez - Panamá 18u pitcher of the year, young, peaking quick, stuff, pitchability.

D Hernandez - Good arm, good pop times, bat over defense at the moment, VG tools package

Tejada - Super Athlete SS, elite running time, needs development, very good upside

KB, thanks again. As always your news was greatly appreciated and even more accurate. Your a huge asset to the board

Hey, i talked to one of my buddies today and he said the Yanks feel like they absolutely stole 2 of these guys. That they should/ could have been 7 figure signings but the Yanks relationship with them and their desire to be Yankees allowed them to get much less.

He said he thought it was a pitcher and a C. I've never heard this before and think it probably illegal as all hell but he thinks they had a handshake agreement with the C that they wouldn't trade him for 3yrs. I've heard of alot of weird things teams agree to but the first time i've heard that one, lol.

U think there is any truth to the Yanks stole a couple of these kids??
