It's only good if they do other things

If they spent that much on him and go into. the season with the same roster, it's an absolutely stupid deal.

Do you expect Hal to spend $300M? Not gonna happen. But you will get to see lots of kids play. Bon appetite'!

Sometimes we should be careful of what we wish for.

    Couple of things for note.

    1. Being reported the three teams in were the Giants, Yankees and Padres. Padres apparently offered more than anyone else.

    2. Judge is expected to be named the next captain of the new york yankees.

I don't think he's a bust. I think he just needs the right motivation to pick himself up & play harder.

Doc, a lot of kids? Again,
    1B Rizzo
    2B- Torres/DJ
    3B-JD/DJ
    C-Trevino
    RF-Judge
    CF-Bader
    LF-?
    SS-?

The only 2 positions we MIGHT see youth is SS and LF. I doubt LF. I think they get someone for LF.
If they got Reynolds, they wouldn't have to spend.

Moving players like Hicks/JD would count for something as well but I don't think they do.

My honest question for all, if they don't do anything else, is this a smart move?

    You all were worried.

The only time I got worried or thought he was gone was with Steve Torre on MadDog said he was gone then started backpedaling in the same phrase. So I thought he knew more but other than that I knew he was staying.

Hal was screwed. He had to resign him.

Problem is Hal took the checkbook away from Ca$hbox. Now we just got rookies to fill in much like LeBron had when they resigned that center….

LeBron has a salary cap. We have a luxury tax, which we can exceed on occasion.

No, And like you I was getting tired of needing to bow down to Judge, Am I happy we got him yes...

I think they should do whatever they have to to get Reynolds... Trade away Hicks and Torres..

I think we will start the year with Peraza SS and Volpe 2nd base... Probably stuck with JD at third, And just hope he turns it around. It cost to much to trade him away, Would rather just let him go and let Cabrera settle in at 3b, Instead of moving him all over the place and let him concentrate on his swing.

Clumsy language, LOT'S as in many innings NOT many kids.

I aree on moving Hicks, never liked or wanted JD, was sad to see Gio go. Although JD had a decent history. He forgot how to hit.

Padres offer was apparently 10 years 400-410 million range.

So I guess the narrative that judge didn't wanna be a Yankee can be put to bed.

Apparently Hal is currently in Italy, the offer from the Yankees was 8/320 as of yesterday. He spoke with Judges team and offered to add the 9th year to the contract to get it over the finish line.

Everything we know about the Aaron Judge contract talks, including a late pitch by Padres
    December 7, 2022

The Padres struck out Monday on Trea Turner, but as so often is the case under general manager A.J. Preller, were not ready to stop swinging. Club officials met face-to-face with Aaron Judge on Tuesday night at Petco Park in San Diego, four sources briefed on the matter told The Athletic. However, it is believed they never got the chance to make a formal bid.

A sitdown with Judge signaled that Preller and owner Peter Seidler were seriously considering the pivot of all pivots. Before Turner agreed to a $300 million deal with the Phillies, the Padres offered the shortstop a $342 million guarantee spread out over at least 11 years, according to a person with knowledge of the discussions. Now that they have lost out on Judge, they could embark upon a more serious pursuit of Bogaerts, in whom industry sources say Preller maintains interest.
