Más Santo Knicks (35-28) @ Houston Rockets (16-47): Gon' out West

After an impressive (9-1) stretch, the Knicks are headed out West for a six game road trip.

    Random Thoughts:

    1. The Christian Wood Experience: Thanks to Blake Griffin's career crippling injury. After a combined 72 games over 5 seasons, Christian Wood played a career high 62 games and had a breakout season with the Detroit Pistons. The following season, Christian Wood signed with Houston Rockets as a center but unfortunately noodle legs had a leg injury that cost him some time. His talent is undeniable. His thin frame is. He's back but for how long?

    2. Draft high, sell low(?): If you look at the history of the Knicks' draft picks, they whiff quite a bit. Like it or now, the Knicks whiffed on Frank Ntilikina (8th overall), Kevin Knox (9th overall), and even possibly Obi Toppin (8th overall) who will back up Julius Randle unless the Knicks find him a new position. None of these picks will get the Knicks much of anything on the market. What we do know, the Knicks have been better at drafting supporting cast players and signing budding UFA. Perhaps the best off-season plan is to sign a bunch of 25 year old free agents, hope to develop them, and trade them for bigger pieces.

    3. The Talented Mr. Kevin Porter Jr: The 30th pick of the 1st round of the 2020 NBA draft has surprised a lot of people. Recently dropped 50 against the Bucks! Over the last twenty something odd games he's averaged 16.7 ppg. Not a bad piece to have on the court.

    4. Houston Rockets' Rebuild: The Rockets will definitely have an opportunity to draft either Cade Cunningham or Terrell Suggs. If you think about it, a trifecta of Suggs, Wood, and Porter Jr would be pretty impressive start to a rebuild. Don't forget the extra picks from trading away Harden and Westbrook. That should give them every opportunity to build around their franchise player of the future.

    5. Julius Randle's Health Insurance: Fortunately the Knicks have never had to really deal with a devastating injury. My worry is the fact, they're taking it for granted. It's a play now, pay later mentality. That's my worry. Big worry. This is why it's so important that the Knicks are aggressive this off-season.

The Rockets are still a bad team. Good teams beat bad teams. Let's go Knicks!

Well I think this is a positive as well to playing a young team, they are playing today against Curry and GS hopefully it's tight and we get them on a back to back.

    some concerns however:

Kelly O seems to hit three's against us, he scored 24 against the Bucks last game on 3-5 from three.

Tate is not a bad SF so interesting to see the RJ match up

Wood is going to be a handful for both our centers, we are going to have to play up on him, he shot 6-10 last game from three.

And then when Kelly sits another 3 point PF replaces him in Wilson, so Randle will have to guard that as well.

this is a Must Win, there is no doubt about it, we will be well rested and they will have played two games while we rested.
Porter well we saw he could light it up, and we will need bullock and Burks all over him

Must win game against the tanking Rockets.

This is the only game I would say the Knicks are a clear favorite.

    Then:

Monday, May 3 Week 20 Grizzlies

    Wednesday, May 5 Denver Nuggets

    Friday, May 7 Phoenix Suns

    Sunday, May 9 LA Clippers

Tuesday, May 11 Week 21 LA Lakers

Thursday, May 13 San Antonio Spurs

    Saturday, May 15 Charlotte Hornets

    Sunday, May 16 Boston Celtics

Don't play for 3 days then 2 games back to back Sunday and Monday.

These schedules make no sense and are terrible for the health of these Athletes.

Read an article after Cuban complained about the schedule about a month ago. At the times games missed due to injury were down this year. I assume they still are

Yeah but the Bucks are overrated. Milwaukee is better than the Knicks but that's because the Front Office basically asked Thibs to perform miracles with the same roster as Fizdale. Challenge accepted.

Last night the Rockets got owned by Warriors. Houston couldn't even put up 90 pts. The Rockets didn't play either starters John Wall/Eric Gordon or even back ups DJ Augustin/Avery Bradley.

Noodle legs Christian Wood back from injury put up a nice 10 pts and 7 rebounds at Center. Only $30M left to pay Houston!

Assuming no one blows out their knee due to the minutes per game, the Knicks should blow this team out. Bullock will defend Porter Jr. Noel/Gibson should have no problem with Noodles, Christian Wood. Rockets have no answer for Randle or RJ Barrett.

On injury report posted by the NBA at 8:30 pm on Saturday, Mitchell Robinson was the only player listed as out. Alec Burks, who re-joined the Knicks earlier this week following COVID-19 protocol, was not listed on the report. The report will be updated at 1:30 pm.
