    NFL Expands Jersey Number Eligibility

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nfl...jersey-numbers

"The expanded jerseys will allow running backs, tight ends, fullbacks, H-backs and wide receivers to wear numbers 1-49 and 80-89; defensive backs can choose from 1-49; linebackers 1-59 and 90-99; offensive linemen 50-79; and defensive linemen 50-79 and 90-99. QBs, kickers and punters will remain in 1-19".

Does anyone care? Apparently Tom Brady hates it, lol

to me it just falls into the category of 'why was this a priority thing for them to spend their time on' kinda deal
    gotta love 'referential' treatment

I admit it will be odd seeing a linebacker wearing #1 in the pros.

    To me its the opposite.

This is a rule that had no reasoning or logic. Its been removed...almost. it should have been completely scrapped.

    I'm happy to hear this.

For the Packers it won't matter much, most of the single digit numbers are retired.

overall I guess I don't really care. I guess it would make the difference for some of the higher draft picks, like when Reggie Bush was drafted he could have kept his college #5 instead of having to use #25.

South Park reference, he's basically saying the change accomplished nothing.

I don't really care but it had to be done because teams have more DBs and WRs/TEs on the roster now.

Not too long ago TEs and WRs could only choose 80-89 and that wouldn't work at all today.

    NFL Expands Jersey Number Eligibility

I love Tom Brady more then most of my family. But heís sounding like the old man who wonít give back the baseball here. The game has changed since 2000 when he came in to the league

But wait, there's a twist! Players have to buy all the inventory from the NFL shop of their old numbered jerseys before they're allowed to switch to a new number.
