Looks like the Cubs "Ace* is really on his game tonight. What a punch in the mouth after Cubs really hit for the first time all year yesterday. Took the wind out of our sails for sure.

Why does it seem like opposing teams hit against the cubs shifts pretty easily

Some things never change. Cubs down by 10, and Baez with count 0 and 2, tries to hit a 10-run homer. How stupid is that?

Clean house! It's a good thing they couldn't extend anybody. Can you imagine being handcuffed to a couple of these "core" guys for several more years? No thank you. Bullet dodged.

That's just called "going the other way" or "taking what the pitcher gives you". This is an unfamiliar concept for most of us Cubs fans in recent years unfortunately.

Our team ERA is 28 out of 30 teams, at 5.05 Probably worse after this game.

Actually our team hitting OPS is 23rd out of 30 teams somehow. 12 MLB teams have a team batting average of .221 or lower. We're 3rd in MLB in team HR, 27th in runs.

The Cubs have scored 50 runs in 15 games. The Mets have only scored 37 runs in 13 games.

After my last remark, I got to wondering when/ why Baez began regressing. Could that have started when David Martinez left to manage the Nats? Maybe he was the only one that could get through to Baez?

I would move both Bryant and Contreras right now before they hit a cold spell. If the Cubs are going to suck, suck with a purpose.
    Screw sabermetics.
