Baez is a guy whose game relies on aggression and instinct. That works in the field and on the base-path, but at the plate you have to use your brain and be selective, and too much aggression can be easily exploited. This is a guy who swings the heaviest bat on the team in an era when pitchers are doing everything to increase velocity and spin-rate. Tony Gwynn swung the lightest bat in the league and Barry Bonds choked up. Maybe Baez needs to make some compromises beyond trying to hit the ball as far as he humanely can.

Cubs hitting problems have been occurring since mid-2018. This is no longer just bad luck. The offense is broken. Kudos to Happ and Heyward for showing some ability to make adjustments.
Can this really be the answer? " The game has changed a lot in the past few years, especially in the pitching department....these Cubs players haven't been able to adapt. " My question is what are these fundamental changes that have taken place in ML pitching, and why have all the other clubs hitters been able to adapt and essentially none of the Cubs hitters have?

You do realize he's going to be the Cubs play by play announcer for multiple years and that the Cubs aren't going to be this frustrating forever, right? Hell the Cubs haven't even been as bad as the score suggests; they have the lowest BABIP of any team since 2002 but have a top 20% hard contact%. The Cubs are having a decent amount of bad luck. They're not good...they're not the worst team ever. Some luck will go the other way. So there will probably be a few decent moments even along the way this year. Maybe not like winning a WS good. But a few walk offs that may still be fun.

Overreacting, perhaps, but watching this team sucks.

    1. More velocity, more spin/break on balls. Plus I imagine even more analytics on how to pitch to hitters weaknesses. Also, the shift. Someone like Schwarber was a clear loser in all of those.

    2. I dunno. They do suck at hitting velocity and hard breaking stuff.

I don't think that's an overreaction. It sucks right now. I think it'll get better; there's no way they're THIS bad offensively. But it still sucks now.

I hate them so much. Our offense is complete and utter garbage.

Sad thing is, Ross can't even really mix it up a bit with the bench cause the 4 guys on the bench are terrible too.

I actually feel sorry for JD and Boog now, I mean seriously they're stuck in a booth at WF with noone there, watching the game on a monitor, watching a team play boring baseball with little to no action game after game, and they are trying to come up with stuff to talk about because there nothing going on during the games

More than 1 run? Are they allowed to do that?

We scored three runs, but does it feel like we put up 10 to anyone else?
