Everyone has a *valid* reason for discrimination.

Also, I don't see how arguing against Interracial relationships corrects some disadvantage that minorities have in the system.

So what does having a valid reason for discrimination mean?

No, what attempts to correct some of the disadvantages minorities have in the system is hospitals and schools giving preferential treatment to minorities.

The first marriage does pre-date Jesus, but by more than that, ordained by God as a religious ceremony. Now you know.

100% no. Why should a single person have to pay different taxes than a married couple?

where do you think a religious practice comes from. It's either man or God. Only valid ones are from God. (I get it, it assumes God exists, which for this purpose of government in marriage is required).

So do you have any Nazi tattoos? Is goose stepping as hard as it looks?

Or perhaps this is merely sarcasm? Sadly, one of my favorite means of expression.

It being ordain by God is what you believe. it is funny when someone tells a non-believer “now you know” based solely on them being a believer. Anyway marriage is more then a religious institution. If you took government out of it you would be creating a lot of work for government and employers that provide medical coverage and other benefit based on marriage. I love my wife. She has a medical condition. Without government sanctioned marriage I can't talk to doctors, ensure her coverage if she needed to stop working etc. Marriage is a spiritual thing for some for some it isn't at all.

Again government butted in where they didn't belong and then make their attempts to make it more palatable.

I'm all for Civil Unions. That's where the government screwed up.

    Le sigh...

The first recorded evidence of marriage ceremonies uniting one woman and one man dates from about 2350 B.C., in Mesopotamia. Over the next several hundred years, marriage evolved into a widespread institution embraced by the ancient Hebrews, Greeks, and Romans.

It's not changing a name. It's establishing something for the government to use to determine things like medical care, adoption, inheritance, etc. The government hijacked marriage when they should have butted out. They still should butt out. Honestly I think a case can be made that government in marriage is a violation of the constitution.

How would a government sanctioned civil union differ from a government sanctioned marriage?
