    Yankees @ Rays April 9-11

    Fri, Apr 9 • 3:10 PM EDT
    At Tropicana Field
    TV: YES, Bally Sports Sun
    Rays home opener

    Yankees
    Corey Kluber
    RHP
    0-0, 2.25 ERA, 5 SO
Kluber is coming off a no-decision in his Yankees debut, having held the Blue Jays to two runs (one earned) and five hits over four-plus innings. Kluber tossed 74 pitches, walking three and striking out five.

    VS

    Rays
    Rich Hill
    LHP
    0-0, 9.00 ERA, 4 SO
Hill's 17th MLB season did not get off to the start he'd hoped for, as he was chased after four innings in a no-decision against the Marlins last Saturday. The 41-year-old, who has pitched 5 1/3 innings as a Yankee, hasn't faced New York since 2016.

    Sat, Apr 10 • 1:10 PM EDT
    At Tropicana Field
TV: Bally Sports Sun, YES, MLBN

    Yankees
    Domingo German
    RHP
    0-1, 9.00 ERA, 2 SO
Germán lasted only three innings in his return to the rotation, surrendering two homers in a 68-pitch start against the Blue Jays. The righty posted a 1.38 ERA across 13 spring innings. He really needs a nice bounce back start if he hopes to keep pace with his rotation partners and hold off Garcia from making a push of his spot in the rotation

    VS

    Rays
    Chris Archer
    RHP
    0-1, 13.50 ERA, 2 SO
Last Saturday, Archer made his first start since Aug. 20, 2019, soldiering through two innings and allowing four runs (three earned) in the process. But he's held the Yankees to a 3.14 ERA in his career, third lowest among teams he's faced at least 10 times.

    Sun, Apr 11 • 1:10 PM EDT
    At Tropicana Field
TV: YES, Bally Sports Sun, MLBN (out-of-market only)

    Yankees
    Jordan Montgomery
    LHP
    1-0, 0.00 ERA, 7 SO
Montgomery pitched a gem in his season debut, blanking the Orioles on four hits over six innings in a 7-0 win. Most impressive was his fastball command, permitting the lefty to strike out seven without a walk.

    VS

    Rays
    TBD

I predict atleast 2 of three in this series . Game 2 could be a slobber knocker . If you don’t know what slobber knocker is , it means a match up where it’s mostly or all offense where they are just beating the crap out of each other .

Well, the season is over again and the yankees stink. I can't believe they lost to the orioles. They are so bad.

I'm just glad he's not the pitcher he used to be. He was nasty for a while

Look easy on paper vs the Rays but this team will struggle against them.

Defense is atrocious! Need a SS and FAST!

Torres was never highly touted defensively, therefore ever putting him at SS was a mistake to begin with. He needs to be at 2B because he can't make the throw from SS, it's an adventure every time. Let DJ play first and Bruce to bench. When Voit comes back is when this can get dicey.

Sorry guys can't hang this one on Torres. He is guilty of a balky glove, but not on this play that may have cost them. Bruce should have had it. It was a one hop that almost hit his glove.

Short term DJ at 1B might be the answer.

How insane is it that they got Meadows and Glasnow for him?

While I agree that Bruce should have had that , it was still a terrible and sloppy throw by Torres . He had all the time in the world to make that throw and he threw it in the dirt . That is just inexcusable . That error is as much on Torres as it is on Bruce .

No argument, it was a bad throw. The throw was in the dirt, on a very clean one hop, most skilled 1B make the play. Torres confidence is shaken, he's thinking too much rather than reacting instinctively.

    Former Yankees news

James Paxton getting Tommy John, won't be back until sometime in 2022.

Trevor Rosenthal will be out 12 weeks after thoracic outlet surgery. Said to have had vascular compression so needed to take care of it.
