Not a bad deal for the Panthers. Jets obviously taking a QB now.

I think itís a great deal for Carolina. Basically a 2022 2nd rounder.

A 4th is good but that 7th means nothing.

Bargain bin price. But it's only a great deal for the Panthers if Darnold can actually play well for them.

Good trade for the Panthers. High reward low risk. Now surround him with weapons.

The Jets are reportedly getting a sixth-round pick in 2021 and a second-round pick and fourth-round pick in 2022 out of the deal.

Not that a 6th is super valuable either, but, for clarity.

I feel like Panthers vs Indy is a thing to watch now, to see who can rehab the QB better.

I'm not the biggest Darnold fan, but I'm a fan of this low risk move AND a fan of Adam Gase reclamation projects. I was worried we'd give up way more than this for Darnold and I was worried we'd sell the farm to get one of Fields/Lance if they fell beyond #4.

    I love this move because:
1.) It means I'll have to see zero starts by Teddy Asswater
2.) It means we can sit at #8 and take BPA or draft a QB if they fall, then we can trade Darnold if he plays well.
3.) We're giving up basically nothing this year. A future 2nd is basically the equivalent of a current 3rd, which is far cheaper than I expected.

Depends on if they cut Teddy or not. They save almost $8M if they cut Teddy as a post-june-1 designation, but why do that if Darnold might be worse? Panthers aren't tanking, so keeping both QBs makes sense.

Seems like this will be a camp battle for the starting job.

Wildcard is if the Panthers do end up drafting a QB, which seems unlikely, they may then cut Teddy. But that's signing up for tanking in Darnold isn't good, really, as their rookie QB would be 5th best in the draft most likely.

Teddy is probably a bottom 5 starter, so it doesn't get much worse. IMO worse case scenario he's just as bad but younger and hasn't pissed off the coaches yet. Teddy has been a **** leader and has tried throwing people under the bus one too many times in only one season. Getting rid of him is a must moving forward, but I think we'll have to dupe someone into trading for him because then we save even more money due to the contract structure.

Now we get to really see Joe Bradys talents.
If Darnold bounces back and does well then he'll be a head coach for sure next year.

    Darnold was the worst starter.

Teddy has interest from both the Broncos and Saints, supposedly.
