Giolito is probably not an ace but has that potential. Think heís one of the better #2 types. Dude needs better consistency though.

And also if you want to narrow it down to under 3FIP and over 3fwar to be consider an ace, you have about 4 aces in baseball.

Yea that's why I put ace in quotations, because there isn't really that many "aces". Just a lot of damn good pitchers.

Bieber, Scherzer, deGrom, Burnes is the only "aces" I can think of.

Hell even Kershaw isn't under that threshold.

There's still plenty of season left. I can't imagine him having a lower ERA than Bob Gibson in 1968.

    Future Hall of Shamers:
    (1) B.A.L.C.O. Barroids (2) Mark McJuicer (3) Jose Chem-seco (4) Rafael Palmeiroids (5) Ken Chem-initi (6) Jason Gi-andro (7) Ryan Fraud (8) Muscle Melk (9) Woman-Ram (10) Shammy Sosa (11) Roger Clear-mens (12) A-Roid (13) Ryan HGHoward

He hasnt even faced the phillies or braves horrid hitting yet either lol. He has 9 games so far so if he is healthy he probably has another 17 or so in him...half of those should be to the braves/phillies/marlins/nats at least.

By this argument Otani will be an ace if he can get his fip under 3, he's already at 3rWAR on the season.

I feel like "best pitcher in baseball" might be the one topic everyone can agree on. DeGrom is on a level of his own and nobody else is even close.

deGrom is the NL MVP favorite right now imo. Dude has been worth 3.2 fWAR as a pitcher in 9 starts. He's also been worth .5 WAR at the plate too for a total of 3.7 fWAR on the season.

Another ump show. This time in college.

Context: Dallas Baptist was down 5-2 and the batter hits a go ahead grand slam in the bottom of the 7th in a winner take all game deciding who advances to the Super Regionals.

Looks like Houston is Bostonís new kryptonite canít seem to catch a break when playing them this year. Maybe Boston should start banging on Trash Cans.

They should use the same method as in the 2018 WS.

I am really going to miss seeing de Grom hit next year if the NL adopts the stinking DH. He needs one more hit to set the Mets career record for hits by a pitcher.
