Ian Anderson has been good this year but, it does not surprise me that he has struggle a bit just because last year when he was called up he just went on an amazing tear you knew there had to be a little bit of regression.

one of the beat writers said Muller could be used tonight if Anderson doesn't get past a certain inning since this would be Muller's normal day to pitch and it would keep him on the same rotation to be able to pitch in Davidsons spot

at this point I have to think its a mix of a bunch of things, Snitkers lack of managing the bullpen and the bullpen coach are the top 2

My only defense of Snitker is he has nobody to rely on. Even Chris Martin is getting hammered right now. How do you attempt to piece together a bullpen that has so many holes?

that would also lead back to Bullpen coach. outside of re-signing Melancon and the addition of a couple of other guys the Braves have a similar bullpen as last year. Martin, Greene and Smith in the back end, Jackson, Matzek and Newcomb usually at the front of the pen.

I know its a small chance but, I still wonder if these guys are having a hard time with the new ball. sometimes if you adjust something with the tool you use it can either help you out or hurt you and its possible the adjustment they made to the ball has thrown off some pitchers rhythms.

The new ball doesn't seem to be bothering Melancon.

I really think the decision to not bring back Melancon is the biggest issue. We already have 11 blown saves. Last season Snit had the freedom to use any combo of Martin, Matzek, Smith, Minter, and Greene to get the ball to Melancon in the 9th. Now with all these guys struggling there isn't anybody left who can settle things down. There is nobody in this bullpen that we can feel confident will take care of the 9th inning or to even get it to the 9th. With Melancon you at least felt some sense of security. That has to add additional pressure onto the rest of the bullpen. Instead of each reliever just doing their job there seems to be this sense of "I better not be the one to screw this game up". Baseball isn't a spot where you can be successful while battling with your mind and that especially applies to a reliever.

DOB and Bowden went back and forth on some trade proposals. Here is what DOB proposed:

TRADE 1 (swinging for the fences)
    Diamondbacks trade: Ketel Marte

Braves trade: Drew Waters, Kyle Wright, Jasseel De La Cruz, Braden Shewmake (or, a different deal that includes Dansby Swanson)

    TRADE 2
Pirates trade: Closer Richard Rodríguez and outfielder Bryan Reynolds

Braves trade: Drew Waters, Trey Harris, Logan Brown, Kyle Wright, Jasseel De La Cruz

    TRADE 3
Twins trade: Starting pitcher José Berríos

Braves trade: Touki Toussaint, Johan Camargo

    TRADE 4
Orioles trade: Outfielder/first baseman Trey Mancini

Braves trade: Kyle Wright, Johan Camargo, Logan Brown

    TRADE 5
Mariners trade: Outfielder Mitch Haniger, closer Kendall Graveman

Braves trade: Kyle Wright, Jaseel De La Cruz, Johan Camargo, Logan Brown

    More potential targets
Other starting-pitcher trade possibilities: Rangers’ Kyle Gibson, Reds’ Sonny Gray, Tigers’ Matthew Boyd

Other closer/setup trade possibilities: Rangers’ Ian Kennedy, Angels’ Raisel Iglesias, Marlins’ Yimi García

Other outfield trade possibilities: Pirates’ Adam Frazier, Diamondbacks’ David Peralta

Of all those proposed trades I like the Pirates trade the most.

Do you think Kyle Wright is a lost cause at this point and should be traded for whatever the Braves can still get for him while he is still relatively young?

I don't think he's a lost cause but it's a numbers game. I think it's safe to say our top 4 is locked up with Soroka, Fried, Ynoa, and Anderson. Then you have Wilson and Davidson. Kyle Muller just got his first taste in the majors. I also think there is a good chance AA will want to sign a veteran to the mix, like he did with Morton this year. Someone will be the odd man out. Wright's trade value should still be fine. Combine Wright with Waters and the Braves can likely compete with anybody on the trade market.

I can’t wait to see how Contreras develops. Once this kid figures out how to hit in the majors he’s going to be a stud

I agree. That Marte trade would be so amazing, but I don’t think it’ll happen with the contract he has

Yeah he'll be stupid expensive. Basically with Marte you're having the same conversation as we did with Jose Ramirez.

Of all those offers DOB proposed the one with the Pirates is the best bang for our buck IMO. 2 1/2 years of Richard Rodriguez and 4 1/2 of Bryan Reynolds. Rodriguez would be a huge boost to the bullpen. Reynolds will balance out the lineup and at worst would be a 4th OF/bench bat long term. With Ozuna's status up in the air and Pache struggling with the bat Reynolds could easily find himself starting consistently for a while.
