But that said the kind of forced societal compliance of tying a non national sports team into things like the national anthem is silly and dumb also.

The people complaining were trying to get him canceled either way. Sure it would have been the company needing to do it which can be different but the people whining/complaining to those levels were trying to cancel him (I won't watch this until...).

I don't know a thing about this scenario other than what you mentioned. If you have more to share, please do.

He's saying that doing something on your own time isn't quite the same as doing something on company time.

An excellent and well reasoned rebuttal to the fact that Colin Kaepernick has been kept out of his industry of choice due to nothing relating to his on field ability. The teams are within their rights to not sign him. But damn letís not act like it isnít cancel culture and youíre ok with it because he disagrees with you while you get your panties in a bunch when you perceive someone who identifies with you gets the same treatment.

I agree, that aspect of the situation is certainly no doubt true.

Isn't that how it works? That driver lost his job bc of a bunch of loud mouths virtue signaling on Twitter. That's what created the choas. Isn't this the same? Kapís actions didn't do much of anything. It was the reaction

Bad publicity, lost endorsements, costumer boycotts, how is it different?

I didnít see he was in a company truck the first time. I realized how stupid Brewerís argument was as soon as I saw he was in a company truck.

That doesn't negate the cancel culture that pressured the company into firing this guy over the incident in the article though, which is the real issue with the story. He was fired because a bunch of people called in complaining about him to get him cancelled off a clip with 0 context from the sounds of it. That is the real problem/argument here is with the cancel culture in the story not that it was a company car (which made it easier for the company to take action quickly, sure).

What's stupid about it? The point isn't that he shouldn't have been for this bc he did it in his own car. It's that he shouldn't have been fired for this
