What stats are you looking at that back that up?

But he has a track record of being effective when healthy. His salary will match what Familia is getting and Familia will roll off the books next season. Honestly, I do not see both Thor and Stro being resigned so this is a solid signing that can help us next year as well.

No cheating...would you rather have player A, B, or C?

I agree. I love the move personally as I wasn't convinced we could keep Thor or Stro next year and this gives us some leverage. But the alternative is true in that he is guaranteed a spot on this rotation regardless of his performance.

    This.
Walker is a HUGE upgrade to Matz/Wacha/Porcello and its not even close.

But isn't that pretty much everyone who signs a multiyear contract?

Yep. And on the Mets this isn't a huge issue because it isn't like we have blue chip prospects coming up in the near future

I couldn't even tell you what half this ***** means outside of ERA, WHIP and K/9. But I'll gladly ask the teacher what I could do for extra credit.

I don't think I'm sabermetrically-minded enough to choose [emoji23] I haven't really concerned myself with them in a few years, but I also paid more attention when we used to do our fantasy league (which I won the last time I played did it, just saying [emoji16])

    Porcello had a BABIP .373 and a LD% of 27.1%
    Compared to Walker's BABIP .243 and a LD% 20.5%

Now that he seems to have rediscovered his Slider, I expect him to perform better than his career average of 3.84/4.24/4.18

I'm not looking for Walker to be a savior but he is definitely better than Matz, Wacha and Porcello.
