2021 White Sox Spring Training Thread

Per TLR, Kopech will be starting the year out of the BP.

This just further stacks the BP more than it already is. Man this is looking deadly.

    Hendriks
    Bummer
    Marshall
    Kopech
    Crochet
    Heuer
    Foster
    Lopez

That’s assuming Cease and Rodon round out 4-5 in the rotation.

Yeah our pitching will be quite alright. You get into trouble early with Rodon, you can pull the plug with a stacked pen to right the ship.

Last year we would have terrible starts from our pitchers, and our offense would keep us in games, often times retaking the leads, but our bullpen in the last 2 weeks was misused and taxed. Now if we can get those leads back, we will be in a good position to shut the door, and not let teams back in.

Kopech/Crochet and Bummer/Hendriks give us 4 guys capable of being elite Setup men or closers. That should help them all stay fresh. Marshall was pretty damn good too last year. Heuer and Foster were no slouch either.

Kopech and Crochet could be like having a LH and RH Josh Hader platoon.

I see Lopez getting the mop up duty in games that get out of hand. Which seens a good role for him until he proves he could be anything more than that.

What is this Spring Training Rule? Abreu up with 2 outs bases loaded, and the Rangers just end the inning? Dafuq is that.

The new rule, announced by Major League Baseball late last month, applies only to spring training games through March 13 as teams shake off the rust. It relaxes Official Baseball Rule 5.09(e), which states that “when three offensive players are legally put out, that team takes the field and the opposing team becomes the offensive team.”

At least it's just the 1st 2 weeks. If it was the whole spring, that would be so dumb, because no one would get to practice high leverage situations.

It;s ST. Rules can be made on the fly if both managers agree which they almost always do.
