Missing on Tatis may be more about our scouting and player development than our FO. The Sox were lacking in those areas for decades, as illustrated by repeated weak farm systems and poor track record of home grown talent. I’ve stated before that my issue with the move was less about missing on Tatis and more about adding to a team that should have been blown up.
But, what’s done is done. You learn from your mistakes so as not to repeat them.
I’d wouldn’t trade one 2017 thru 2024 for a million 2010 thru 2016s.
I can't wait to watch Spring Training broadcasts to get a look at some of the prospects we have not seen much of. The line-up and pitching staff are pretty much set but there are a few openings like DH. There could be a surprise there if Burgur rakes and Vaughn doesn't or if they both struggle and Mercedes or someone else like Lucroy or Collins step up.
I could see the Sox possibly going with 3 catchers, Grandal, Lucroy and Collins and giving Lucroy and Collins at-bats as DH.

Anderson was the most important player in terms of meshing with TLR. Looks like they are off to a good start. I know the Hispanic guys would respect Tony as their coach. Timmy is the one guy that everyone questioned how’d it would work.

It's early
But so far TLR has been better than I expected. His ability to speak the language of most of the teams star players is huge. Maybe - his age won't hinder him as much as many of us suspected it would - maybe. He knows baseball, and he knows how to manage a team so I'm going to be optimistic about him. In 1979 it was a big deal for him to be the named the White Sox manager - he had them winning shortly after taking over (1981).

The White Sox made another splash signing on the international free-agent market Friday, announcing a deal with the top ranked international pitching prospect in this year's class.
Norge Vera is a 20-year-old, 6-foot-4 right-hander from Cuba and joins Yoelqui Céspedes, this year's top ranked international prospect, as another jewel in the White Sox international-signing crown. In addition to being ranked as the top international pitcher, Vera is ranked as the No. 15 overall player in this year's class.
According to MLB.com, "Vera has impressed evaluators with a fastball in the 94-to-97 mph range and emerging command. ... Evaluators believe Vera has a chance to be a starter at the top of the rotation."
Following several rebuilding years, the focus is finally on the championship-level expectations for the major league team. But part of the team's rebuilding project was laying the groundwork for sustained success. Bringing more talent into the organization can mean instant impacts for the big league squad, like last summer's first-round pick Garrett Crochet, but also players who can make an impact years down the road, such as Céspedes and Vera.
Additional international signings announced by the team Friday included outfielder/first baseman Darío Borrero, right-handed pitchers Adrián Gil and Carlos Hinestroza, catcher Manuel Guarimán, outfielder Carlos Jiménez and third baseman Víctor Quezada. All six players are teenagers.
"I am thrilled with the talent we were able to add to the organization during this international signing period," Marco Paddy, the White Sox special assistant to the general manager for international operations, said in the announcement. "It was highlighted with the signings of Yoelqui Céspedes and Norge Vera — a right-handed pitcher with an outstanding fastball and who has shown promising secondary pitches — and capped off with six talented young players.
"I cannot wait to see this group compete throughout the White Sox system."
In other news, the Sox named Todd Steverson as special assistant to KW.... ??????
