Makes sense. As a Panthers fan I'd be cool dropping to the low 20s for an extra 2nd and 2022 1st.

If thatís all it takes I would do it. Fields is perfect for Canadaís system.

I really don't know why do you care so much that people would've hated or laughed at the pick, because that's not really the bar for judging the efficiency and quality of a draft pick.
I just see little point in having such strong opinions over players who we have no idea how they will do in the NFL. As for the 49ers' recent track record with QB decisions, I think they did fine given the options available. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt if they really pick Mac Jones 3rd overall, instead of trusting the mock drafters in that it would be a bad decision.

It's probably considered a little high, but given the circumstances of the QB class, it'll need to be. I think the Chiefs gave up a 20-something overall pick, their 3rd, and the next year's 1st to move up to 10th for Mahomes.

Maybe our 3 and one of our 4ths with a next year 4th will suffice.

If fields is there at #8 I could also see a bidding war to trade up so the asking price could go up really fast. Denver, Philadelphia, Minnesota, New England, Washington, Pittsburgh etc all might want a piece of that ***

Final mock well off the top of my head and this is me here going off of my own opinion

    1- Trevor Lawrence (QB) (Jaguars)
    2- Zach Wilson (QB) (Jets)
    3- Mac Jones (QB) (49ers)
4- (Trade...I really think there will be a trade but it instead will be between the Falcons and Broncos; Broncos move up 5 spots to go up to #4...Falcons trade down and move down 5 spots to #9)

4- Justin Fields (QB) (Broncos via trade from Falcons; Broncos have their guy and you can essentially move on from Drew Lock)

5- Penei Sewell (OT) (Bengals; give Burrow some protection)

    6- Ja'Marr Chase (WR) (Dolphins)
7- (Another trade...I see a trade scenario here between the Lions and believe it or not the New England Patriots; Patriots move up from #15 to #7; Lions move down 8 spots to go to #15)

7- Trey Lance (QB) (Patriots via trade from Lions; Patriots get their quarterback for the future and Trey can sit behind Cam Newton

8- Kyle Pitts (TE) (Panthers; Giving D'Arnold every chance to succeed in Carolina; giving Sam yet another weapon to throw to; plug Pitts into that Carolina offense with D'Arnold, McCaffrey, Anderson, etc. Carolina can easily contend in the future out in the NFC)

9- Micah Parsons (LB) (Falcons via Broncos trade)

10- Patrick Surtain II (CB) (Cowboys)
11- Rashawn Slater (OT) (Giants; Giants pretty much have a complete offense now and their defense is starting to get complete and with this draft pick up the Giants become even more legit on defense)

12- DeVonta Smith (WR) (Eagles; Smith falls to the Eagles; plus you give Jalen a weapon to throw to; offense looks somewhat presentable)

13- Christian Darrisaw (OT) (LA Chargers)
    14- Kwity Paye (EDGE) (Vikings)
15- Jaylen Waddle (WR) (Lions via trade from Patriots; draft day trade ends up being a win win; Jared Goff gets a new weapon to throw to; Patriots get their guy for the future; Lions get better too offensively)

    16- Caleb Farley (CB) (Cardinals)
17- Alijah Vera-Tucker (OL) (Las Vegas Raiders)
    18- Jayson Oweh (EDGE) (Dolphins)
19- Jaycee Horn (CB) (Washington Football Team)

20- (3rd trade in the first round; but it is between the Ravens and Bears; Ravens move up to the #20 pick; Chicago Bears move down to the #27 pick)

20- Rondale Moore (WR) (Ravens via trade from Bears)

    21- Gregory Rousseau (EDGE) (Colts)
    22- Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (LB) (Titans)
    23- Teven Jenkins (OT) (Jets)
    24- Jalen Mayfield (OT) (Steelers)
    25- Trevon Moehrig (S) (Jaguars)
    26- Christian Barmore (DL) (Browns)
27- Asante Samuel Jr (CB) (Bears via trade from Ravens; Bears add to their defense even more...just adds to their defensive minded identity which has always been their bread and butter)

    28- Nick Bolton (LB) (Saints)
29- Kadarius Toney (WR) (Packers; give Aaron Rodgers yet another weapon on offense; this just adds to their Super Bowl chances especially giving Rodgers another weapon aside from Davante Adams)

    30- Jaelan Philips (EDGE) (Bills)
    31- Azeez Ojulari (EDGE) (Chiefs)
32- Davis Mills (QB) (Buccaneers; this would basically be Brady's backup; Mills draft stock pretty much has gone up considering where he was at; plus Brady is not getting any younger and when Brady retires; you wanna groom your next guy)

Kind of hard to see Farley going ahead of Horn considering Hornís pro day and considering Farley just had a second back surgery.

Surtain to the Cowboys is all but a formality at this point

Most mock drafters love, or at the very least have embraced, Mac Jones at 3rd.

Also, I have no strong feelings about Mac Jones whatsoever. I admit there is a chance he could turn into a starting NFL QB, at the least. However, he doesn't fit the mold of the modern-day top NFL QB, so calling him the most league-ready stilll seems far-fetched to me.

I also don't agree with investing 3 1st round + a 3rd round pick into him. For that investment to make sense to me, you take the prospect with the highest ceiling. That's easily Fields.

However, again, I don't love nor hate the idea of Jones at 3. But to blindly trust a FO that they know what they're doing, the same FO that have passed on actual franchise, top NFL QBs multiple times and have invested resources into quarterbacks that have led to them being desperate to find an actual suitable option, that, again, seems highly far-fetched to me.

Donít be so sure. Horn actually fits Quinnís system better and has been rated about equal to Surtain after both of their pro day workouts.

Surtain would fit just as much if not more because he will be a much better pro than Horn will be. Case you forget Surtain his father played in the league at a high level but then again so did Jaycee's dad Joe Horn. Both have this in their blood.

How are you certain that Surtain will be a better pro? Personally I think both will be very good pro CBís and I definitely wouldnít be upset if the Cowboys drafted Surtain over Horn however I posted a tweet to and article that broke down each players pro-day numbers and how they related to the Cowboys. Surtain is physically bigger at 6í2Ē 210 lbs however Horn is 6í1Ē 200 lbs and has a longer reach than Surtain. Heís also faster than Surtain and is better at press coverage which Dan Quinn prefers.

So again, donít be surprised if Horn is selected ahead of Surtain.
