I don't know about the bolded. Sam's comments would lead you think that but his outbursts at Gase would lead you to think otherwise.
Dungy was brilliant because he knew his limitations and like you said, kept it simple. Gase, does not know his and therefore does anything but simplify.

His offense called 2 plays in to the QB (1 primary play and the audible).
Manning would switch to the audible depending on the defensive alignment.
Dungy understanding the flex in his offense was a brilliant move.

I saw Peyton audible what seemed like entire games sometimes. Based on your comments, I guess many of them were Dungy's calls.

It was 2-fold.
Dungy sent in 2 plays, Manning had the football intellect to switch to the 2nd playcall based on the defense.

Manning also had the intelligence to ignore Gase's playcalls and call his own plays.

Darnold was not developed enough as a QB to be able to do the same in Gase's offense.

I don't know. Sam's contract is way better and he can be franchised. Wentz's contract is no cakewalk, he's 5 years older than Sam and he has the MO being a prima donna.

Wentz salary is $33.5 Million against the cap. He should also get 75% of the snaps for the Colts and they are a playoff team. For all intensive purposes, it will be a 3rd plus a 1st next year plus salary relief for an older player. Sam Darnold is so worth more than Wentz.
