This is why we need an election overhaul with voter IDs and strict rules for all to follow.

No. Concede voter ID to GAIN in many other areas of voting.

Let's give up voter ID for 16 states and get:

    National holidays for voting
    Paid time off for voting
Mandatory minimum polling stations and hours by population
Extended days of polling places being open
    Ranked choice voting

Are you so partisan you don't understand the concept of giving something up to get something in return?

There are things I will not compromise on and voter ID is one of them. Thereís no compromise that makes it acceptable.

Do you think this would be agreed to?

I would primary and NEVER vote for someone who supported this policy. Voter ID is a goal to suppress the vote in a massive way. All of these things are marginal tinker around the edges of fighting voter suppression. Itís like giving up 100 points in a game and then bring down 100-0 and kicking a field goal at the end of the game.

You've been asked to show how it would suppress in a massive way, and to this day, you haven't.

Over 10% of eligible voters don't have one...there's very few single policies or requirements that could limit more access.

Hmmm. You said it was 30% last month. The .005% of those 10% that actually vote should get one. Problem solved.

You appear to be mistaken. Iíve said between 30,000,000 and 35,000,000. That was based on the approximately 10% number.

The race for voter suppression starts anew!

I disagree. I know Republicans are trying to suppress the vote but I think voter ID is a Torgan horse. If you trade voter ID for an nationally regulated system that encourages and provided maximum access to voting you would get vote totals up. I mean look at what happened with the post office, drop boxes, signatures, with Penn not wanting to start counting despite knowing what was coming.

Fair enough. Those "approximately" 150k should get IDs.

    what's easier?

Getting those people IDs or getting rid of a rule that has already been shown in many states to do absolutely nothing

And that is a strange position to me. Most democratic countries and 34 of the 50 states are already there but you are willing to go to the wall for 16 states no matter the cost.

    Okay.

It would be interesting to see. It's possible enough GOP members would go for it for it to go through with a super majority.
