https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/sta...82160408858626Teams already are reaching out to the Detroit Lions to initiate trade talks and figure out what it would take to acquire QB Matthew Stafford, per sources.
Wouldn't be too shocked if a deal is agreed to by end of the week.
People throw the Pats out for all these QBs but why would any of them want to come here? They definitely have the cap space and draft capital to make a quick turnaround, but that takes aggressiveness and execution. The few times they’ve stacked cap space they’ve always been aggressive so I don’t worry about that part too much, but they’re not in a stretch of drafting well and anytime the guy doing that poor drafting is approaching 70 you have to ask yourself if the game might be passing him by to a certain extent.
I know a trade is technically out of Stafford’s control but not sure you want to trade for a QB who’s not excited about being there. And I just don’t understand why Stafford would be excited about that unless he sees some improvement. If they go splurge in FA and pay Allen Robinson and Hunter Henry top dollar and draft another receiver high then maybe now it’s looking like a good opportunity to come play for a GOAT coach. But right now as things stand? Nah.
Stafford to New England doesn't make sense.
