    The “Dude’s” introductory press conference

    https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2021/...ess-conference

Personally, I LOVED it. He’s a bit of a spaz but I could definitely see him getting our guys pumped to play. It’s ALL going to come down to who his OC & DC end up being. Between him and Holmes I think we have the start of something great. I’m being serious.

Loved the “S” bomb he dropped where he said as lions fans we’ve heard all that “S#!+” before.
    Lol.

I liked hearing him say that its not all about the scheme, but rather about putting our Players in positions to succeed. LOVE that. That means we wont draft certain players because they fit a certain mold. Dump that patriots way BS.

The spit take after he found out Muhlbach was still on the team was great!

Am I sold on him? No, not yet, however the press conference was a good one and a nice breath of fresh air after the mundane and useless conferences we got from Bluto and Boob.

I am 100% bought in...can he fail of course he can, but that amount of passion it won't be due to lack of effort.

I like the we are going to bite them in the kneecap line. His press conference was a breath of fresh air compared to the Patriot way BS we have dealt with the past 3 years.

I mean, he's definitely making the Kool-aid taste nice but at the end of the day, it's what happens on the field that matters.

Am I optimistic? Yes. But, we shall see.

Also, I don't get the Dude reference. Not even close in my opinion. More along the lines of PC Principal. Can we have those shirts made?

Look at his 2008 team photo or watch his theme song video in the other thread. The long hair and goatee... the resemblance is definitely there. I could totally see the principal PC reference as well.

I agree with you guys. This guy is different and he understands that. I loved so many things about the presser:
    1) he has a genuine passion to want to win.
    2) all he said he was going to do was get our guys to fight in every game and keep it close. Give us a chance to win in the end.
    3) his spitting out (almost spitting out) water was hilarious
    4) I loved how he said who knows how many of these things (coach introduction) you guys have been to! I literally lol’ed
    5) he talked about the city of Detroit being beat down but always coming back and wanting a team that reflected that. I LOVED THAT.
    6) he mentioned getting the right 52 guys versus the best 52 guys.... I absolutely dug that as well.
    7) he was also humble, he spoke on how he may not the smartest guy, most experienced guy but he understands the risk taken on him and that he didn't want to let the city down.

I interpret that as when they evaluate the players, they will put them in situations where they can excel, rather than trying to mold them into something they are not.

because then you get a coach like Matt Patricia trying to fit a square peg into a round hole and hammering away at that while you lose your locker room. There is no adaptation its the scheme and most schemes require a very specific type of player to match it. The more complex that scheme is the harder it is to find those guys.

Its not like he said he is going to field a team and play sand lot football...he just isn't going to force a scheme onto this organization he is going to build for the strengths of the current team and attack the weaknesses of the opposing defense.

this is SOL in a nutshell, when bringing in a new coach, bring in the opposite of the old coach.

Offensive coach doesn't work? bring in defensive coach

player friendly coach doesn't work? bring in a hard ***

if that doesn't work, emulate the patriots

when that doesn't work, just like it never does for anyone, bring in the opposite

grumpy guy with complicated scheme who is a rocket scientist?

bring in a motivational oaf with no pedigree and no scheme

we do this all the time, and we always think it will work!
