I got an update that said Staley hired as Charger HC and I immediately thought it was Duce Staley.

Lmao, leave it to the Chargers. You have a promising rookie QB in a passing league, I know, let's hire an inexperienced DC with literally one year DC experience who prior to 2017 was coaching the likes of *checks notes* Hutchinson Community College, JMU, and John Carroll University....

There's a reason the Chargers never accomplish anything and it's because every time the universe lays out a logical path to stardom, they literally do whatever they can to go another direction. Like if I dropped a huge ****ing sign near a river of a lava saying "Bridge this way! Seriously, it's the only way out of this mess!" they'd be like "Hmmm... this is clearly a trick, so I should probably try to jump over the river!"

For a team I genuinely like and root for, they are the most frustrating franchise in the entire ****ing league with how inept they are.

Ummm.....that’s kinda the exact thing that happen with Tomlin. Not saying the guy will be Tomlin but to say it won’t work is presumptuous.

And Tomlin inherited a SB roster that had literally won the year before he took over. Tomlin is a good coach, but he'd have been fired a long time ago if he had inherited a roster similar to the Chargers.

Sucks that the most qualified people often aren't getting promotions since their teams are still playing.

Daboll and EB probably don't get a HC job again as their teams are still playing.

Or have to settle for less desirable jobs like the Eagles or Texans

I don't get the allure of HC'ing a bad team, being fired, and ending your career vs winning multiple SBs as an OC.

If I'm EB, I stick with Mahomes 8 more years and get a ring for each finger.

I agree but if you can HC a promising team it is great. That's partly my post, he is losing out on these good opportunities like the Chargers because the Chiefs are so good.
