This would be a blow, especially since Steelers cap expert and Assistant GM Omar Khan is interviewing with Carolina. Could leave head of scouting Hunt in line for GM and we would be way behind the 8-ball for an outside hire.

Go big or go home! I'm just glad the Lions are looking at every option possible.

Sounds like the Steelers shot it down. Interesting since the contract ends after the draft.

His contact is year to year, right? I wonder what Colbert's upside is contractually if it ends/starts after the draft? Seems like he has little to no leverage when offered a GM position with another team.

Yes. Itís year to year. Itís more leverage if Hunt and/or Khan leave.

I love the attempt just as they did going after Schneider.

The franchise sucks so you might as well swing for the fences, not like what you've been doing before hand has worked anyway.

Not really. First off we donít know what anyone on the Steelers coaching staff or FO makes. I know Iíve heard anywhere from $4mil to $9mil for Tomlin. Colbert has been rumored to be making $3mil a year with potential ownership stake if he retires without GMing a new team.

Iím just saying that if heís valuable to the franchise and another team is trying to poach him away from the Steelers (and heís considering going) just money whip him. It doesnít count against the cap to pay your staff.

the guy to get is Ed Dodds imo. He's basically 1B in Indy.

No, the guy to get is Howie Roseman. Someone should make Jeffrey Lurie an offer he can't refuse.

He interviewed with us Tuesday. Definitely would not be opposed to him either though it sounds like the Lions really like Brad Holmes as well. As long as they skip the interview with Jeff ****ing Ireland I'm generally going to be okay with who they hire.

Before Paton signed with Denver, it was widely reported that he was the Lions top target. Paton agreed to a deal with Denver last night so I'm assuming this was just the Lions trying to figure out where they go from here
