If these Russell rumblings are real it theoretically takes another suitor of the board in our pipedream pursuit of Watson.![]()

How about a 3 way with a base like this:
Bears out: 2021 & 2022 1sts
Bears in: Derek Carr
Seattle out: Russell Wilson
Seattle in: LV 2021 1st, Bears 2021/22 1st
LV out: Derek Carr, 2021 1st
LV in: Russell Wilson
I'm sure a trade like this would have more parts to it.

Well, it's either Watson, Russ, or fire Pace.
Fire Ryan Pace
Jesus, throw everything you have at Wilson. It's not often an elite QB, in his prime, is available, and would be cool with playing in Chicago.
Next 3 1st's and a couple players...whatever. The rapidly closing window for this roster suddenly swings open again, you can throw whatever money you have left at more offensive weapons, and you finally have a QB capable of matching Rodgers.
All that said, I doubt it happens, but Pace almost certainly saves his job if he can somehow pull it off.

Looks like Watson might sit out the season. Gives us more leverage if we go through the offseason without addressing the QB position.
Unfortunately, most of this is noise until the draft. So many pieces will fall in place then:
-Will NYJ draft a QB
-Will someone trade up for a QB?
-Will we see a blockbuster draft day trade?
-What will we do with #20?
I can’t think of a crazier scenario then HOU not moving Watson before they draft when they so badly need draft capital this year and next. Having so little draft capital AND Watson sitting out may allow them to go 0-16. HOU doesn’t have a 1st or 2nd round pick this year.
