Devonta Smith, Ja'Marr Chase, Jaylen Waddle. Any one of those 3 would be amazing at #7 depending on what happens with Stafford.

Don't get mad for having to draft Chase or Smith. Those 2 are one of the best WRs to come out in a very long time.

If we lose stafford, we are forced to trade up for a QB, if we keep stafford, we are forced to draft a WR? Looks like a lose lose situation IMO.

if we lose stafford we traded him for something...even if it is to send less picks to move up.

If you are trading Stafford though you are getting assets back though so you aren't losing him for nothing. Lions also aren't forced to take a WR if they keep Stafford (this class has a lot of WR talent) but if you are looking for that game changing, superstar WR those 3 are it. Especially important if we lose Golladay and/or Jones.

    First Take
Round 1 Pick 10 (DAL): Micah Parsons, ILB/OLB, Penn State (A)
Round 2 Pick 9: Jaylen Twyman, DT, Pittsburgh (A)
    Round 2 Pick 12 (DAL): Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, ILB/OLB, Notre Dame (A)
Round 3 Pick 8: Sage Surratt, WR, Wake Forest (A+)
Round 4 Pick 20 (MINN): Israel Mukuamu, CB, South Carolina (A+)
Round 4 Pick 30 (MINN): Thayer Munford, OT, Ohio State (A+)
    Round 5 Pick 9: Ronnie Perkins, DE/OLB, Oklahoma (A+)

    - Traded the #7 to DAL for their #10 and #12 (2nd Round).
    - Traded the #7 (4th Round) to MIN for #30 & #40 (4th Round).

This scenario is under the impression that Stafford is here to stay, and the Lions are SOL and do not take his replacement. They only have 5 draft picks so my goal, while still being realistic, was to get a few additional picks, and address the defense. Only Surratt and Munford are on the offensive side of things.

disagree, if we trade Stafford we're gonna have to attach picks and eat salary just to get rid of him

Looking at our roster and our lack of picks...I think the lions have to attack this one of two ways.

If they drop back they need to drop back twice picking up multiple picks each time because this roster has so many holes in it. That includes dropping out of the top 10 which Holmes came from an organization that did a good job of filling its roster through the draft even without having a first round pick.

The other option is stand pat pick your board and then trade away assets on the team. Maybe they do rip that bandaid off and trade Stafford and just take the cap hit. If they do and they undersell him for non first round picks and maybe future picks that is the way this team digs out of this hole.

Either way this team has a lot of holes on its roster (even without a defense scheme change) and very little draft picks to help fill them.

Writing is on the wall. We are on the verge of experiencing what happened in New York with Eli, New Orleans with Drew, and Pittsburgh with Big Ben. All of these teams held on to their franchise QB for a little too long.

Do you really think we'd have to attach picks? I think we'd just be on the hook for some of the salary.

Lions fans perception of Stafford is for whatever reason far lower than teams outside of Detroit imo. Denver and Pittsburgh fans, on this site no less, have said they would give up their first for him. Look how the media talks about Stafford being underrated and needs to get out of Detroit.

I agree with this, there are teams like the colts who are competing who need a solid (not amazing) qb. Houston could be looking for a QB to replace Watson, 49ers not happy with their QB. There are 32 teams and Stafford is better than what half of those teams have right now.

Indy is also now in the market for a QB.

none of the teams mentioned have an opportunity to draft a stud.
