Lolbron taking legal action against Miami owner over King James moniker

First this dunce tried to trademark taco Tuesday, now he's trying to block arison and his cruise company from dubbing one of its boats as king James.

I guess every boat named Queen Elizabeth should get sued by the royal family.

Idiotic waste of the court's time.

None of you are in the room with LBJ's lawyers that have decided to press charges. You don't know.

You do know that "King James" has existed for a LONG time before LeBron James was born right?

I doubt LeBron was reading some article or press release and decided to call up his lawyers.

But I do give blame for going along with his legal team's advice when they brought this to him.

It's not just about the ship name. It's about the activities aboard the ship.

Though the ďKing JamesĒ moniker was obviously not originated by LeBron, the Lakersí forward does retain a trademark license over the nickname, as it pertains to sports related items. With the cruise line planning on hosting ďsports activities and eventsĒ according to their filing to use the name, it opened a legal avenue for James to contest the use of the moniker.
As Gerben explained in the video, legal contests over the violation of trademarks can regularly take in excess of over two years to be resolved, however they are often settled before a final verdict is delivered.

LeBron probably doesn't care that they use the name. He just wants to get paid for it through a settlement offer to make his lawsuit go away. He's a businessman, plain and simple. Don't hate the player. Hate the game.

Just because the game has cracks doesn't mean the player HAS to exploit them.

Why not? I'm not a fan of whiny millionaire athletes, but I'm certainly not going to take the side of billionaires over them.

This is such a terrible take. If you dont defend a trademark you can lose it. This is beyond common in the business world.

Yeah I'm starting to see that. My bad, my worst take this century if this is something that inhibits bron from capitalizing off his nickname yet enables this corp. How is it even legal to trademark king James anyways.
