Toronto wanted this man to do way to many things he was no longer proficient at or able to do.
Maybe his brother will join as well to help him out.

The only place he belongs is on a true contender like the Lakers. He will hep out huge against players like Jokic, Nurkic, and maybe Embiid if the 6ers make it that far.

The only place he belongs during the playoffs is on the bench that Cook and JR vacated until garbage time. Everyone here seems to have this habit of making excuses for every incoming player in this team while crucifying former players like Danny Green for missing shots. Gasol was 3 for 20 in the Eastern Conference final while standing there letting Bam score in the paint at will. I rather keep McGee as a shot blocking specialist when AD is on the bench. At least he's not on my team.

Tbf. All those players that left were also being called trash prior to joining us.

When we signed Avery the narrative was that he was washed, now he has value again.

When we signed Howard the narrative was that he was a cancer, now teams are willing to hope he continues behaving as hes still valuable as a backup big.

When we signed Green the narrative was that he was more Ice than hot in his Icy Hot nickname. Hes still a solid defender, but not the defender he once was either.

    We clearly upgraded overall.

If being more cold was true, why was he offered 30 million to join the Lakers as a roll player? He was clutch during the Raptors finals with a better 3 point percentage than Steph when it comes to all finals performances so Icy sounds like having ice in his veins https://youtu.be/MbTpCb0EfGU

Green was an unsung hero in Toronto but receives death threats in LA just cause he struggled in the bubble. Im glad he's in Philly now where he doesn't need to deal with all that crap.

Danny Green started his decline with the Spurs before he ever got to Toronto, or LA.

Gasol can help a contender in the playoffs. He is a very smart player with great ball iq, and interior defence. As long as youre not relying on him as your primary big hes a good weapon to have, to throw at other bigs in the playoffs. he has the ability to completly shut an aposong C down in a series. Plus hes a great passer so he doesnt hurt ball movement and gives them a creator inside.

You can get a solid 20-25 mins from him when needed. You just cant really rely on him for scoring. he just has 0 touch around the rim now and other than hitting some 3s he doesnt really give you much on the offensive end.

He was never clutch for us. He even admitted it during the parade going as far to say "dont thank me" to the cheering crowd because he didnt do shiet.

His defence has also taken a dip since his Spurs day, and really cant give you anything outside the 3 pt shot. Even then he never hits that shot when you really need it. I like Danny Green and hes still a servicable player, but hes not the same 3&D wing he was with the Spurs

All Gasol is really good for now is bullying Joel Embiid on defence. The thing is, he's such a nice guy that he'll be the first one to go up to Joel and give him a hug when he's sobbing uncontrollably like he did after Kawhi ended the process. It was probably like...

    Embiid: :'(

Gasol: "Joel, it's okay man. That shot must hurt and it probably gives you a helpless feeling. Kind of like the feeling you get when you try and enter the paint against me."

Its all about making sure that you put Gasol in situations he can be successful and get him out of there when the matchups Arent favorable.

Embiid destroys AD because hes to big. But Gasol can punk Embiid. So he has his uses even though AD is thought of as the better defensive player, Gasol will def be the go to guy against the Embiid and Jokic type centers of the nba.

Some games Montrezl will be the guy whos in there.

Dwight was unplayable against Houston, but vital against Denver last season. The Lakers understand this, and how matchups work. We got 3 different types of centers in AD/Trez/Gasol, between the three of them we can matchup/overmatch any team/lineup there is. Dont for a minute think your smarter than the Lakers staff who just won a championship by adjusting there lineups to each team they played.

Bron/Vogul/Pelinka are on the same level as Pop/Buford when it comes to knowing the game and what will work and what is needed to win a ring.
